4 AnswersBooks & Authors5 years agowhat do people think of this setting for a fantasy novel?
There is the normal world and above it is another world full of magic floating right above it on the clouds . The only way to go between the worlds is by flying up on the little boats in Venice. the non-magical people cannot see this other world. Is it a good idea, or should I just think of a new setting?

also tiny dragons that travel in flocks like birds, clever and witty trolls, tiny nomadic elves that will tell you a story for a meal and shelter for a night
4 AnswersBooks & Authors7 years agois my story a bit too similar to harry potter or anything else?
the story is about a girl named Scarlett winter who lives with a perfectly ordinary family in the suburbs of nyc, and loves to read and is completely and utterly bored with her life, and wants to go on an adventure with magic and excitement. thats when she meets a new boy who is really sensitive and shy who just moves in down the road. together they go on an adventure to figure out where all the bees are disappearing to, when they stumble upon a magical parallel world centered in venice with a magic school that is basically different types of buildings like gothic churches, italian villas, brick houses, wooden houses, etc. all put together that floats through the sky on a cloud. the school has two entrances, one that connects to a town house in venice in the normal world, and one that connects to a hotel room in new york. thats just the basic overview but yeah, is it too similar to anything? because i don't want to write a billion pages, reread it and then realize that its just a copy of harry potter or the hobbit or anything
