  • Is it rude to bring your own wine to a wedding in which wine is already being served?

My sister is getting married and is planning on serving wine at her wedding. One of her guests has said that she doesn't like the wine that will be served and is planning on bringing her own. I think this is very rude and just want to make sure I'm not alone. How can I tactfully tell her?

  • Formulas in Microsoft Excel?

I simply want to set up a running total of the data entered in one column, but can't figure out the formula. (I haven't used Excel in years.) For example, I want to enter the amounts in column C and add it in column D. I figured out how to do it cell by cell, but want to be able to set it up automatically.

  • Worried about milk supply and other nursing issues?

My 10 month old has frequently been refusing to nurse during the day. I have been told this is a "nursing strike", but it has been going on for two weeks. I continue to nurse him in the morning when he first wakes and at night before he goes to bed. I offer beore each nap during the day as well.Tonight, he bit me for the first time during the nursing session (he has bit me before, but always during one of the day sessions in which he would not nurse). My concern is two fold 1) I feel like my milk supply is depleting, and 2) I worry that my son is not getting enough calories during the days that he does not nurse.

I have wanted to avoid formula, so I was aiming to nurse until at least 1 year, but now everything I am reading makes me not want to switch to cow's milk at that time either.

Any suggestions or advice about what to do regarding my milk supply, how to make sure he is getting enough nutrition, and/or how to get him to stop biting?

  • 10 month old won't nurse during the day?

My almost 10 month old has stopped nursing during the day. He still nurses well when he first wakes up in the morning and before he goes to bed at night. Up until this week I would nurse him before his morning nap and before his afternoon nap as well. Now when I offer him the breast he sucks lazily for a few seconds before pulling off, or even worse, biting me. He shows no indication of an ear infection or any other malady. He already drinks water from a straw, so should I just pump during the day and give him his milk that way?

  • A question about SIDS?

I have a question about SIDS that as of yet, no one has been able to answer. It is based on these two pieces of information: 1) Doctors recommend that a baby be put on his back to sleep to reduce the chance of SIDS; HOWEVER 2) Once the baby is able to roll from his back to his tummy on his own, it is okay for the baby to sleep on his stomach. Here is where my confusion lies - not all babies roll from back to stomach at the same age. Some do it at 4 months and others not until 7 months. So why is it okay for a 4 month old baby to sleep on his stomach just because he rolled there on his own, but a 6 month old who has not mastered the skill of rolling still has to sleep on his back?

  • 4 month old refuses to sleep on back?

My baby is just shy of four months. He has always slept on his back, swaddled tightly. Now he is strong enough to get out of the swaddle and wakes up after being asleep for as little as 10 minutes. For several days now the longest he has slept during the day is 1 hour, and at night 4 hours. He was sleeping up to 10 hours at night. He has rolled from his back to his tummy once, and from tummy to back once. My husband and I have tried everything the past couple of days- crying it out, soothing without picking up, waiting until he is sound asleep before putting him down, letting him fall asleep in his crib, swaddled, not swaddled etc.. He simply refuses to sleep on his back anymore. I put him on his tummy for one nap, and lo and behold he slept like a champion. I know we aren't supposed to put babies on their tummies because of SIDS, and I was freaked out the whole time. Any advice on what we can we do to help my baby sleep? Also, I did some research which said that if the baby can roll onto his tummy on his own than let him sleep on his tummy. My question is, if the baby can roll onto his tummy, how does that make a difference as far as SIDS is concerned? Isn't he still on his tummy?

  • When did I get pregnant?

10 weeks ago I had unprotected sex. I took the morning after pill and had a period (lighter than usual) that started on July 3. I have not had a period since. 3 weeks ago I had sex (I know, stupid). Right now I have very tender breasts and cramps like menstrual cramps. I took a pregnancy test and it's positive. My question is, which time did I get pregnant?

  • How long does it take a cat to get used to an e collar?

My cat had to have stitches and just came home this morning. He is miserable and keeps running in to things. He has to wear it for 7 days. Will he get used to it by then? Or should I expect a long 7 days?

  • X-linked traits in females?

I've always understood that the reason females don't exhibit X-linked recessive traits (such as color blindness etc), as often as males was because that even if they carry the recessive allele, they are likely to carry the dominant allele on the other X chromosome. How is this true if one of the X chromosomes in females is inactivated? My textbook indicates that which X chromosome is inactivated is completely random, and differs from cell to cell.
