  • Need Divorce - Living in UK - married in USA?

A friend of my wife needs a divorce? She was married some 7-8 years ago in USA – she resides in UK and he in USA. For the duration of the marriage they have lived separately and she has tried to get him to come over to UK as she holds a better Job than him and has more assets. He has strung her along for the period and their time together has been that of holiday entitlement both ways for the first 4-5 years. Over the last 2-3 years they have not met, just some phone conversations which have now become very seldom and separation / divorce conversations are at the forefront. He refuses to give her a divorce hoping that she will sell up and move to USA and start from scratch as he doesn’t even have a pot to piss in? As the legal marriage had taken place in USA how is the best way that she can get a divorce so that she can move on and plan a relationship closer to home.

I know there will be some halfwit that will say that she should not have got married in the first place without sorting the geography out – so don’t waste your time as she knows that?

Any sensible advice will be appreciated in how best to separate her from this marriage without him being able to touch her assets?

  • Joint Shares - one name wrong - Buying broker changed hands?

I purchased 2600 BT shares about 10 years ago via Skipton Share dealing services. Bought in Joint names however in this transaction the joint owner name was a for somebody that does not exist? I should have sorted this out then however thinking that when the shares come to selling Skipton will deal with it - and my bank was accepting the dividend cheques as the initials were the same and the cashier didn't pick anything up .

Subsequently Skipton has been bout out by TD Waterhouse! Telefonica went through a compulsory buy out of the O2 part of the business. We inherit EQUINITI as the registrars for the O2 shares pay out for Telefonica. EQUINITI seem a bunch of crooks as they tried to charge me a hefty commission in paying out for my O2 shares. I had two lots of shares one with correct names and 2600 batch with one incorrect name. I wrote to EQUINITI when I sent my share certificates through for the pay out? They paid out in full for the correct name shares. However they have held on to my certificates with the incorrect names and have not paid out?

TD Waterhouse say its a problem that EQUINITI need to sort out. And when I rang EQUINITI they say they need TD Waterhouse to confirm that the name is wrong?

I can do with having the £5200 that is due to me and we seem to be at stale mate. EQUINITI say they have written to me - however I have not received any correspondence.

I know this is a convoluted story however any help will be appreciated?
