  • What should I do with this Sony Ericsson Z525a?

    A close friend of mine who has paranoid schizophrenia recently went downhill and had to be placed in a group home (he's doing well). I inherited all his stuff, long store short.

    One of the things he had was an unactivated Sony Ericsson Z525a for Cingular. I put the simm in it and it works, but of course doesn't make any calls. I can't unlock it because I don't have a code for it.

    He lived in an area where cingular worked well. It's terrible where I live. I use a Tracfone, but would love to be able to get a regular phone like this one.

    Is there a way to legally unlock it so I can use it with any carrier? If not, what should I do with it? Is it sellable? Should I donate it to some charity, if so, what one and how? Any ideas?
