  • Can I add my MyBookLive WD cloud storage directly to my laptop?

I have the adapter cable for  ethernet-to-USB. My new laptop...Lenovo POS --IMO either can't or won't open my storage even on the same network. Thought MAYBE a direct hook up would help. So far, no joy.

  • imported .ics not showing on calendar?

I created a calendar for the NASCAR schedule. I went to the site and downloaded the .ics file to my PC.Then went to my Yahoo calendar and imported the .ics file to my NASCAR calendar.

I've tried EVERYTHING I can think of but the schedule just will NOT show on my calendar. Every indication is the file imported fine, no error messages at all. I've tried 3 different sites for their .ics files and get the same results every time.

If anybody knows where I can subscribe to the 2013 NASCAR schedule, I'm willing to try that. So far, no joy.

Thanks in advance for your help

  • Why don't U.S. holidays show up on my Y! homepage calendar?

I know when I open my Calendar, I can see all the "calendars" I subscribe to..such as U.S. holidays. Is there a way to get the holidays to show on my homepage instead of having to open the calendar every time?

Like, maybe under "events scheduled"? or even in the "day" box...

    Thanks

  • Why won't a store bought DVD play in my laptop?

Some store bought movies won't play in my Laptop DVD drive?

It is not even recognized. It plays fine on my DVD player so I know it is the right zone format.

I removed the problem disc from my laptop, inserted another store bought and the 2d disc was recognized.

Could my drive be going bad? It is almost 3-4 years old.

  • can i upgrade my 2.0 usb drivers to 3.0?

3.0 usb isn't as common as I thought.

If I get a new laptop or all-in-1 computer, can I upgrade the 2.0 usb drivers to 3.0 myself?

I know that 3.0 is backward-compatible to 2.0. I would just like the speed of the 3.0 available, mainly for an external hard drive or other peripherals with 3.0 speed.

I know I need a 7200 HDD for the higher speed, that's easy to find, but not computers with 3.0 standard.

    Thanks

  • what are the requirements for an HDD to use 3.0 usb speeds?

I'm trying to decide between upgrading my laptop or getting a newer one with the specs I want.

My question is, what are the minimums for an HDD to utilize the greater speed of the new 3.0 usb? I have a 5400 rpm 100MBps. HDD now.

I THINK I read somewhere that my HDD needed to be 7200 rpm min. Is that true? Is that another thing I need to look for in a new 'puter? Or is it the processor speed?

I've been reading so much on this stuff, my brain is just about fried...

Appreciate any and all help to clear my head

  • A couple of questions @ the Kindle e-reader?

I'm considering getting the Amazon Kindle as I only want an e-reader, not a pad or tablet.

    1) It is offered with a 6" or 9.7" screen...most paperbacks ( my preference ) are under 7" tall or 8" diagonal, is this a major hurdle to overcome?

    2) Is there any plans to expand from the AZW format so we can get ebooks from sources other than Amazon? I.E....my local library e-lending

    3) Is there already a format converter for the Kindle? Haven't seen anything on the Amazon website.

    Thanks for your time

  • will an ipod "dock" work for any mp3 player?

I see all the newer stereo systems, clock radios, etc. coming with what is always described as an "ipod dock" or "dock for your ipod". I have NO DESIRE to ever have anything with " i " in front of it. But I have begun wondering if these docks will support other MP3 players before I invest in one; the dock or the ipod/mp3 player, whatever.

    Thanks

It already has my email address--why does it need my proper name too?
