I was replacing an exterior light fixture when i got a minor shock from touching the aluminum fixture. After safely removing the fixture I found that I had 120v between neutral and ground. Back at the junction bock where the light switches are I noticed that the main ground wire had 80volts when check between two ground wires. I understand that there may be a short between the hot and ground but my question is why would this not cause the breaker to trip?

I'm a small business owner and I hire "helpers" from time to time to get work done. I have two such helpers that I can call on to give a hand when i need it. I pay well and always offer drinks, breaks, & buy lunch. As you may expect, I try to strike up a conversation with these young guys (I'm also male) who are only maybe 5 - 10 years younger than me at age 35 and I get one answer responses to my comments..... So usually i do 95 percent of the talking and so there's a lot of what i consider awkward silences............ Has anyone else run into this? 

So this has happened before after eating at a particular BBQ / Seafood restaurant. The first time I thought it was a fluke, now im sure its the restaurant. My Wifes parents who are in their 70s love it, I m in my 30 s and its making me ill. could it be MSG, excessive white vinegar, rancid oil? No one else has this reaction so im thinking its an alergy or something particular to me...

My sister sometimes invites the whole family over to her house for birthdays, holiday gatherings, and other such special occasions. Her husband is a nice guy but for some reason when they invite us to their house he’s always wearing a sports jersey and basketball shorts....we re not watching any sports at their house... everyone else is dressed nicely....is this some kind of southern tradition I don t know about or is he just rude?

So I used Epsom salt in the yard to help with decomposition of a few small tree stumps. I've done this in the past and have noticed that ants always create a mound close to the stumps and within a year the stump is decomposed and full of ants.... Well the other day i sprinkled some Epsom salt on a spot of grass because i saw online it can help your grass become greener. Well today, 2 days later, I noticed a huge ant pile where i sprinkled the Epsom salt...What?

So I think there may be something wrong with the paint in my house. I tried using painters tape to get clean lines while painting my trim, After painting I pulled off the painters tape while the trim paint was still wet and the paint on my wall came off with the painters tape..... Epic fail.....is this normal or is there something wrong with my wall / paint. I used the normal 8 dollar a role 3M tape from Lowes and the tape was new....

I'm painting the exterior of my house which is new bare masonry / stucco. I cant find any definitive answer on the difference between the masonry sealer and primer...are they the same? do i need both if im going to paint

I need a good fully stainless steel bbq grill and last time i went to the dump they had like 20 of them lined up in fixable condition. Usually all they need new burners or a pressure regulator and a long thorough scrub down obviously.

while i was looking for a house I noticed a trend in my area. Houses would go on the market as a Forclosure auction (the property as empty, old owners had already been forclosed on), I actually put in an offer on one of these properties and lost the bid even though my bid was above the asking price. The status of the house would go to "pending sale" then a few months later it would be "off the market" not sold. I was under the impression that If I offered above the asking price that if the sale fell threw that I would be contacted and given the opertunity to purchase the house...

I live in the mountains and there is a cell tower about 1/4 mile away from my house. Because im higher up in the mountain im close to parallel to the transmitter. Is this dangerous?

currently the ball mount is removable by taking out a pin. The ball mount makes a lot of noise as it moves around inside the receiver tube. I figured I could add a weld across the top of the connection point to stop the noise and it would also be less likely to get stolen. If i ever want to remove it I would just need to grind off the weld. is there any reason not to do this?

I've seen many trailers on the side of the road with one axle in the dirt where it looks like the tire hub broke off. What causes this? I'm about to take my boat 850 miles road trip and I'm wondering what I can do to make sure this doesn't happen to me.

Last night around 5pm a woman was at my door trying to get in. I have security cameras and I Posted the video on the online neighborhood watch site. a "family friend" of hers explained the situation and asked me to remove the video from the internet. Should I call the cops, ask her to come over and explain the situation, take the video down and forget about it?

I have a 9 panel glass exterior door installed on the back of my garage. The bottom of it is rusting out and needs to be replaced. Can I just buy a solid door and cut a hole in it to put the glass from the other door in?

I have a Frigidaire that i got for free new because it didn't work. I found out it had a hole in the condenser unit so I replaced it & added a new dryer filter. I found the spec for the amount of freon from inside the fridge 5lbs. I charged the system slowly with the can right side up never staying between 0 -5 psi. and used a digital scale to tell me when i've added enouth freon. I let the unit sit for hours so it can start to cool down. The PSI stays at about 0psi....It never cools. after about 8 hours the pressure jumps up to 50psi & the compressor stops coming on. What is wrong with this thing?
