  • Do I need a TV License?

    As a student, I feel that I hardly watch TV and up until now I have used an external portable DVD player which connects via USB to my netbook, however this can be a hassle at times. So I wanted to buy a TV with a built in DVD player only for DVDs. I have no intention of watching TV.

    I know that the TV Licensing website states you do not need a license if you use a tv only for DVDs/gaming etc..

    However all of these new TVs have built in Free view, is this going to be a problem? My room has a TV Ariel socket but as it's student accommodation I can't damage it to prove I wont use it.

    I just don't want an inspector turning up and then fining me for something I haven't even done.

    Thank you for the help

  • I seem to have developed a fear of sleeping/beng the last one awake? How to help?

    When I was about 8 or 9 I used to be so scared of going to sleep alone. It was never the dark, or being scared of hat's in the dark, just the thought that if everyone fell asleep I would be the only one awake; so my parents would have to sit with me until I calmed down and slept.

    I am 17 now however I seem to be getting back into the panicked habit. I admit that my sleeping pattern is off, during the Christmas, my sleeping pattern has jumed to going to bed at 4.30 and waking up at 2pm. But suddenly over the last couple of days I havent been able to sleep and I get myself worked up, therfore suffering from panic attacks and hyperventilating. I enetually get to sleep anytime beteen 6.30 and 8

    Can anyone suggest anything? I am getting worried thinking about it now.. the thought of sleep seems to be worrying me too as I type

  • Everytime I turn my tank lights on my two angelfish have a fit, literally. Why? ;-;?

    I turned the light on yesterday and one of then swam on a tilt around in circles very fast, obviously something was wrong. They other sat against the bottom at the side of the tank.

    I turned the light off and let the other calm down before then switching it back on. It was sat on the bottom upright like the other, calmly. I did a 50% water change and they seemed a little brighter, they started to swim about.

    This morning I get up only to turn the light on again, the original one who had a fit, started swimming around crazily, knockingand flicking itself against everywhere, the other one sat perfectly still until I took a look closer to see if it was ok, only then did it start freaking out like the former.

    Both Plecos seem ok. They are hiding away, one did frantically look for cover but that's just cause they hate the light, right?

  • What is a good cheap programme to make a website on?

    I am making a very simple website for a woman who re-homes and looks after stray cats. It really doesn't have to be complicated. I have experience on making websites through my college, I used Publisher and did a detailed one. However on my laptop, I do not have publisher and so can't use that. Buying it costs like £200, can anyone tell me a cheap/free good website programme to use/download/purchase.

    Thank you x

  • Feel constantly sick?

    The other weekend I was ill with a cold and had a sleepover with some friends, I think i had a little too much sugar as I spent the night feeling sick...I burped a lot and thought maybe it was the fizzy sweets mixing with the coke in my stomach and reacting badly. But then on and off I have been feeling sick throughout the week. I didnt eat on saturday and as a result felt ill yet sunday i made sure to eat well and then seemed fine. Today is monday and all day I have felt terrible, like I am going to throw up at any minute...I have been in college as its my first day trying so hard to concentrate but there were moments when i struggled. a small jourey in the car is terrible for me and just walking up the college stairs too.

    Does anyone know why this could be? I thought it was that I wasnt eating enough but I feel terrible today...;-;

  • Book reccomendations for A Level..?

    Ok so I start college on Monday and one of my courses is English Literature, we have to read a book of our choice and later on will write a peice of original writing with one common theme with what we have read, I like writing about old age things though too or emotions,

    I was told a little late by this so I do not want to read an overly long book, howeve rif it is interesting enough I will most likely be addicted. I haven't read so much recently yet I used to read loads so I know I can.

    I once read Pride and Prejudice for GCSE level coursework, so Jane austen wa smentioned as an idea, I seem to be interested in Persuation, but is it so interesting enough? Jane Austen isn't exactly my first choice...I like fantasy books I guess or something with a strong or romantic storyline...something very interesting that is hard to put down. Yet I wish to read something that is quite well known so that my english teacher will know it etc Any ideas please?

  • Fish seem to be gasping, should I worry? O_O?

    I have four new angelfish and they have been in this tank for just over a day now. Earlier they were just sat at the top of the tank doing nothing but like playing with the bubbles or staring at the surface but I went out for a meal and ut seems they looked to be gasping, I turned the areation on higher and one of them is now swimming about yet returns to the top still before going to swim again.

    There mouths are tiny so it is hard to see if they are gasping or not..

    I have added the tapsafe with the wate rand the bacteria for the filter it has a heater and areation thing too (which is turned up and now annoyingly loud) should I worry? Earlier I posted here and was told it was ok but now I am starting to worry for them ;-;

  • Why does my fish tank smell of chlorine?

    I have recently bought a fish tank and followed the intrsutions of several leaflets when setting it up, the heater, filter and aerations is all installed corrrectly, and along with adding the water I have used Tapsafe and Fliterstart which came with the whole set, again I followed the instructions and added the amount, the empty tank has been on and running for a day now, it is set at the right temperature however I can smell chorline, I know this isn't good for the fish

    My brother says that it's just because it's warm water and therefore the chlorine is evaporating and therefore that is why I can smeell it, that it is safe, however I am getting my fish this week and I really do not want to harm the fish at all or them to end up ill.

    Does anyone have any suggestions as to what it could be?
