  • Don't want to get pregnant...can a test tell if someone is sterile?

Can docs tell someone that has never tried/wanted to get preg if they're fortunately infertile? I've only seen info for those that want to be preg, not the other way around. I don't mean an ovulation test...I mean an actual "Congratulations, You're Sterile!" test.

I've met people that never tried to get preg/impreg someone say they were. Is there a test for those kinds of ppl or were they trying to cover up that they didn't want kids? These same people used condoms for personal safety.

  • What's a nice way to say don't call us, we'll call you?

(where I work) applicant's keep calling to check the status of their application. we send out cards to say thanks for applying but nothing to say no thanks. We need some polite but firm way to say "Don't call us, we'll call you."

I know what you're thinking: why not just tell them their status? If only!

The hr mgr here has apps from April - we don't have enough positions avail for all the people she'd like to interview. Plus, this co. won't tell callers we're not hiring even though we don't have enough spots for the people we want to hire.

  • Are employers not allowed to say they're not interested in a candidate?

The company I work for only sends out thanks for applying cards and not anything to say they're not interested or that a candidate doesn't meet their qualifications. The result is people receive the cards and keep calling to see if we still have openings or keep applying with the same information over and over. Is it unlawful in GA to say no thanks?

  • if a car alarm is stock can any alarm place fix it or just a dealer?

My anti-theft system keeps disabling the starter. My coworker has referred me to her mechanic that fixed her car alarm, but mine is stock & the mechanics that put in/remove alarms near me said I should go to the dealer for a stock alarm repair.

  • How do I get out of my friend's kid's party?

I'm not being crazy-it's 2.5 hours away and once I get there it's at a kid's play place so there's the running about and then the drive home all in one day.

How do I break it to my pal that expects me to be there?

We saw his kid last weekend at his parent's place: I gave her a gift & got no thanks, nor a mention of "Are you coming to my party?" I'm not holding it against her-she's 8 and what business do I have being there anyway? It's all my friend that expects me to come along. He's been trying to sell me on it all year. I know it's just one day but his parents live 2.5 hours away as well-I'm just saying it took a whole day with them and this will too: 2.5 there, 4.5 hours there, 2.5 hours back.

Please don't berate me about this...I've beat myself up a bunch trying to get the guts to say something or change my frame of mind. & I know...there will be another party next year :(

  • Who do you go to for car alarm problems?

I know it's my car alarm that keeps setting off my passive disabling device (car won't start). I disconnect the neg term of the batt, wait a few secs, reconnect it, put the key in the ignition set to the on position, wait a few minutes, turn it off, then crank it right up. I too tried discon fuses under the hood-car wouldn't start at all even though the dash lights were on. I can't seem to find the module/fuse/switch under the dash on the driver's side as many have suggested. I'd be happy to go w/o the alarm, it's driving me crazy after all.

So my q is do I have to take it to the dealer or can I take it to an aftermarket alarm place? Or is there more advice YA can give me?

  • How do I convey to my bf that his daughter should not sleep in the same bed as him when she visits?

My bf doesn't have a bed for her but he does have a sofa & a loveseat she can sleep on. I think he's projecting his feelings about sleeping on either of these onto her (he can't sleep through the night on either). She's 7 and coming to stay the weekend w/ him. I found out that he sleeps in the bed w/ her b/c last year he was living in a different state, I would visit for the weekend but one weekend when he was scheduled to keep her he told me if I came over I'd be on the sofa. I was like what? Why? He said b/c she sleeps in the bed. I was frozen w/ disbelief. I understand her not needing to know we slept in the same bed-that's fine-but he's 30 and she's 7 and I just think that's not right. I know some of you will say just tell him but I need more than just my opinion. He's a tough character. I think a grown man and a growing daughter need their own space. Plz don't say have her over at my place-she is clumsy and I have nowhere to put my many breakables/pad the furniture.

  • I really want to leave my job-working here is making me broke-how do I negotiate a layoff?

I don't want to quit, I'd like to negotiate a layoff so when I interview again neither party looks bad. I'm really unhappy here and there's no opp for a raise/benefits/promotion. It's a dead-end job w/ a boss that hates all her former employees. I fear what she'll say about me if I quit, even if I give notice. She talks about all the ppl that ever worked for her as if they were all idiots. It's her company so no, I can't go over her head. There's her, 3 employees, and 4 temps. We all feel she's inconsiderate of our needs as human beings.

To let you know how she is: I told her the other employees & I needed health & dental insurance & she said, "Dental? My teeth are fine!"
