  • Lousiana - speeding ticket deferred adjudication?

I'm from Texas with a Texas drivers license and just got a speeding ticket in DeSoto Parish. Was doing 92 in a 70, which pushes it up a bit.

Can I call and request deferred adjudication and pay the fine rather than it going on my record? Is it possible to do the driver's ed thing instead? Who would I contact? There is a phone number on the ticket for the sherriff's office but I don't know for sure if that's who I would call, and what I would ask for.

In Texas, you can call the court and ask for the deferred adjudication and you can also take the driver's ed in lieu of full fine payment - you still have to pay court costs, but not the fine and it doesn't go on your record. What's the deal in Louisiana?
