  • Should a widowed mother on a fixed (low) income still provide a car & ins. for her 50 yr old daughter?

How about a car and ins. for her 27 year old granddaughter? Is that expecting too much? Should they have to do any maintenance on the car or put gas in it? Provide tires if they wear them out, wipers, repair things they break? Mother has only one vehicle and cannot buy another. Daughter has two, but doesn't keep them in repair and has had some wrecks.

  • Ronald Reagan and NAFTA? Have you seen this before?

    4 July, 2000

Mexican president Vicente Fox proposes a 20 to 30 year timeline for the creation of a common North American market. President Fox’s “20/20 vision” as it is commonly called, includes the following:

    a customs union

    a common external tariff

    greater coordination of policies

    common monetary policies

    free flow of labor

fiscal transfers for the development of poor Mexican regions

With the model of the European Fund in mind, President Fox suggests that US$10 to 30 billion be invested in NAFTA to support underdeveloped regions. The fund could be administered by an international financial institution such as the Inter-American Development Bank.

  • Did you know the Louisiana caucus was YESTERDAY?

The primary on Feb. 9 only changes things if one of the candidates gets more than 50% of the vote.

Contrary to some reports, John McCain did not "sweep" Louisiana.

  • Who do you think won the Louisiana caucus yesterday?

Quote: Huey Long -- former Louisiana Governor

"Corrupted by wealth and power, your government is like a restaurant with only one dish. They've got a set of Republican waiters on one side and a set of Democratic waiters on the other side. But no matter which set of waiters brings you the dish, the legislative grub is all prepared in the same Wall Street kitchen."

The Ronald Reagan ticket was ALL THE OTHER candidates and the Ron Paul ticket was Ron Paul. The Ron Paul delegates were regular people. The Ronald Reagan delegates were professional politicians. We were here for Katrina and the FEMA mess, the martial law, the curfews, the fake and slanted reporting... figure it out people!!!!

  • War for oil or democratic government in Iraq?

The Persian Gulf War in 1991 put the U.S.'s access to two-thirds of the world's oil reserves in great danger according to Senator Murkowski.(2)

Opening oil fields in Alaska would decrease U.S. dependency on petroleum imports from the Middle East and Latin America, boost the revenue of American oil companies, would create many American jobs, would lower the price of oil for American oil consumers, would increase federal, state, and local tax revenues, and lower our trade deficit.

Congressman Don Young (R-AK) charges that the government has been "infiltrated by preservationists. This is a socialist movement."

  • What if... the Dems and Republicans declared civil war on each other?

    literally...

then China sold arms & gave money to the Dems

and Saudi Arabia sold arms & gave money to the Repubs...

then Mexico came in to restore order and control our borders, and police the citizens...

Would that be ok with you?

  • What do you think about "going with the flow"?

A very intelligent and principled friend once told me that he thought only dead fish go with the flow, but sewage, pollution and other "junk" also goes with the flow.

What are your thoughts on "going with the flow" or not?

  • Why do some people say all Republicans are rich?

"If you take the wealthiest one-third of the 435 congressional districts, we found that the Democrats represent about 58 percent of those jurisdictions,"

the majority of the nation's wealthiest congressional jurisdictions were represented by Democrats.

He also found that more than half of the wealthiest households were concentrated in the 18 states where Democrats hold both Senate seats.

I keep reading about Republicans and their $200,000+ incomes... but I've never known any like that!

  • What do you think about the Trans Texas Corridor? Is this is raw deal?

Secret deal with a private foreign company.

Gov. Rick Perry has had secret negations with a company from Spain, Cintra, to hold a 70 year concession for a portion of the Corridor. Perry and Cintra/Zachery withheld the agreement from the public, claiming it included proprietary information, even though taxpayer dollars to the tune of $3.5 million is going to Cintra's partner, Zachry, for planning.

Attorney General Greg Abbott rendered an opinion in June, 2005 that states the documents are public record, after the Houston Chronicle and other newspapers around Texas were refused when they asked to see the deal.

Cintra/Zachry and TxDOT filed a lawsuit against the AG in July, 2005 to keep the secret a secret.

The state will take 1/2 million acres, including the richest farm land in Texas called "The Blacklands".

  • Does the Democratic party represent the poor? And Republican the rich?

I started wondering about that after reading someone else's question and realizing that all the really wealthy people I've ever known were Democrats.

When I looked it up I found this article, with some interesting findings like:

"If you take the wealthiest one-third of the 435 congressional districts, we found that the Democrats represent about 58 percent of those jurisdictions,"

the majority of the nation's wealthiest congressional jurisdictions were represented by Democrats.

He also found that more than half of the wealthiest households were concentrated in the 18 states where Democrats hold both Senate seats.
