  • My vocal range has decreased...?

Hi, I’m 15 years old (I'm a guy) and during the summer I started to take up singing as a hobby. After a couple of months I could hit the F above middle C with chest voice if I was all ready and set to go.

Then I got a cold a week back, and my throat hurt and my nose was blocked so I decided to let my voice rest a few days. Now, I my throat felt a lot better so I decided to do what I usually do with my singing, then I found out that I can’t even get above the middle C without my voice breaking. Mind you, I still have a cold so I cough up phlegm and I have a blocked nose (but my throat felt better).

Is this a normal thing when you have a cold? Can I get back to my normal range after I heal completely, or am I back to square one?

I’m getting quite scared, because I joined a school band as a vocalist but if they suddenly discover my voice is bad they might drop me, so I want to know if my voice just deteriorated over 3- 4 days of not singing.

    Thanks!

  • What are some good kpop songs that you can introduce to a friend?

I live in Britain and I've been having a discussion with my friend about music videos, how some are perverted, some are really good, etc. then I started talking about kpop and he's never listened to it before, so he said I should recommend him something.

I have no idea. I'm korean, so im not sure whether my style would suit a British guy's style. Anyone who's foreign got into kpop, could you tell me what song you first listened to and why it was addictive? thank you!

Btw i think he likes rap, but he was looking for cool dance moves too.

  • how does NaCl in water make it conduct electricity?

So, I got the part about if the NaCl is dropped in water, the water molecules separate the Sodium ion from the Chlorine ion... and this somehow makes the water conduct electricity?

Electricity flowing, as far as I know is the movement of electrons, but all the electrons are taken- the electrons in H2O is in a covalent bond, and the NaCl are ions, so full outer shells... so how does the electrons move or is there another way of transmitting electricity without electrons??

I've tried the other answers, people saying stuff like cathodes, anodes.. whatever, I don't get what they are and such, so please can you explain slowly? Thank you!

  • There is a problem with installing my Windows 7 upgrade, can anyone help?

My friend let me borrow his Windows 7 upgrade disk because I have Vista, but when I tried to install it it said that the language was different and so it couldn't install (My Vista is English, the Windows 7 is Korean).

I'm pretty sure that it will install if I do the Clean Install, I think it's called (where you destroy all of your files), but I am reluctant to do this because I have a lot of schoolwork stored up. But my dad says that if you do the Clean Install it won't touch the D drive, it will renew the C drive- but when I looked it all the other people say that everything will be deleted.

I don't know who to believe because my dad isn't a complete dumbass on PCs either. Will it affect my D Drive if I do the clean install???

    Thank You!

  • How do I save my plant?

My plant was getting big so I repotted it last week, into a bigger pot (~20cm diameter). I honestly don't know what plant it is, sorry, but I used wet compost to fill the pot. Now, the plant seems to shiver up??? It's green and all, but it has no strength, the upper leaves are crumbly and dry. I heard in biology that the roots don't have any oxygen if the soil is saturated- is that it? So should I get a stick and poke some wholes in the soil?

Thank you to whoever saves my plant!

  • Does gamma waves ionise?

In physics I'm doing a topic on radiation and we studied Alpha, Beta and Gamma decay.

I know that Alpha particles make an element lose 4 mass and 2 protons, Beta particles make the proton number of an element increase by one but I still don't get Gamma waves.

So Alpha and Beta ionise stuff, and I know why.

But Gamma? I don't get how it ionises stuff and according to my physics teacher, it does. The Gamma Decay Equation puzzles me a lot. So it ionises but the element does not change in any way except lose some energy? is that ionising?

Oh, and please could you not say "it does not ionise" because my physics teacher said it did. If it doesn't ionise, then please tell me why.

  • How to sing well? Any tips?

Well, I'm a 14 year old boy and I would really like to be able to sing, but my voice breaks a lot, but if it doesnt it just screeches and doesnt make a smooth sound. Is there any tips that help me sing failry decently? Im not saying like a professional but good enough that i can perform in front of other people (not in a choir, more rock music type).

People say that you have to sing form the stomach, not from the lungs but how do you do that? and how do you stop screeching?

  • Any comments on my plot of my book?

I'm trying to write a book but I'm really hesitant, because although it may be fun for adults I want to aim it at children.

Well, there's a girl in a sexist society- against women.

and this girl realises that she's going to spend her life as a tailor if she doesn't take action, and she dreams of a society where it is equal with no discrimination.

Now here's the bit i want people to think about- i tried to think about a society and where girls would be restricted and I immediately thought "Army" and "Education".

I went down the educaiton path because at the end im going to make the girl become queen of the kingdom, and being in the army doesnt really fit that in well with the last part.

I know i can write it really good, and make up the adventures in the University where my story is situated, but i think as soon as teenagers see the word University, they are going to put the book down, thinking that its a book for total geeks. But thats just the setting- not the story! So im thinking do you think itll sell well if i publish it? do you think that its gonna get published?

Btw the girl's name is Karan, and when she gets into uni, she disguises her name to Kuran, after her father who is missing in action at war.

  • Why is Samsung innovative?

Is Samsung worthy to be called innovative?

If they are, why are they innovative?

And finally, why is Apple and Samsung the only 2 companies that are the big topic? Lots of other companies make smartphones, don't they?

  • Hey, what do you think of these trousers and shirt?

My mum just bought me these as a present, and I don't really like it. My mum said they look "cool" on me- and you know how sad this is. When I rejected it, my mum started blackmailing me- saying that we won't go on a vacation if I don't wear this. And I'm just going to ask your opinion- what do you think of these trousers and shirt?

  • Water Bottle Rocket School Project Help?

My school, in D.T are doing the Water Bottle Project at school- the criteria is to cover as much distance as possible in the air- I want at least over 100m please!

We discussed a lot of factors in school- by studying planes we found out about shape of wings that give it high-low pressure factors, and whether we could add wings to it, or we could make it spin like a rifle bullet by adding spiral wings to it, round and round the body of the coke bottle (we are using 2 litre coke bottles, not water bottles).

Could you also tell me the proportion of water and air in the bottle? For example, I could fill the bottle half with water, then I would pump the space left with air until the pressure gets too high and the bottle shoots off. Or is filling the bottle 60% and air 40% better? or Vice versa? or any other percentage proportions?

The only things that needs to be kept the same are- largeness bottle, the attachments cannot be below 100mm below the nozzle, we will use hot glue guns and most inportant of all, we need to use recyclable/recycled/used materials. Please consider center of gravity, streamlining, aerodynamics, etc.

    Thanks a lot guys!

  • What type of bridge model is the strongest?

At school, our D.T Project next term is to make a bridge model using art straws, PVA Glue and triangular gusset plates ONLY. We have to make a design of the bridge e.g. (suspension, warren truss, etc.) but it has to be the lightest possible and it has to hold up a lot of weights (it's a competition; the teacher puts weights on our bridge and the bridge that holds up the most weights win.) So the question is, what is the lightest, strongest possible model that is possible to make with only art straws, PVA and Gusset plates? So, you can see that suspension and warren truss is going to be extremely hard to build. Thanks. And could you give me some tips on how to build it as well, if you can?

  • Internet survey help?

I want to do an internet survey and it actually requires your telephone, county and postal code. Just in case that there is something fishy about one of these things, I don't want to give them my real contact details, so I was wondering if anyone can make up a fake but valid contact details for me?

    Thanks.

Here is the survey I want to complete-

    http://prizes.uk.com/landing.html?pathName=pu_gucc...

The reason for me wanting to do this is a secret! And it's not because I want the boots, cos as you can guess I'm not a girl.

Just a quick extension, what do you think the strongest bridge design is?
