  • Taking chocolate and Christmas crackers into South Africa?

Does anyone know if you can LEGALLY take chocolate and Christmas crackers into South Africa? I would be flying via Dubai, so I also need to know if there would be restrictions taking them through there.

  • brachycardia - anyone else who has suffered from this?

I am looking for any information about brachycardia with high blood pressure. I have just been told my heart rate is 40. It is not caused by over exercise because I am permanently out of breath and hugely overweight - even though I eat a very healthy diet and also eat very little. I have to wait a month before I can see the doctor to find out what happens now. I have googled it, but would like to hear personal experiences of what happened to others with this.

  • starting again in the UK?

My husband has decided he wants a divorce and is making life unbearable because I won't just move out and leave everything to him.

The trouble is, if we sold our house we wouldn't get more than £25K each - at most. I only have 10 years to go before I retire, so I wouldn't get a mortgage. Even for a one bed or bachelor apartment I can't find anything to rent for less than £450 per month with minimum £150 per month council tax. I clear under £700 per month after tax and NI. My car has also broken down and I need a car for work.

How do other people make this work? I feel like I am in an impossible situation.

  • cheap property in Britain?

Can anyone suggest any areas in the UK where property is relatively cheap - but not because of a high crime rate. E.g. In my village property is roughly half the price of property in the next village because our village has no through road, but it actually has a lower crime rate than the next (and more expensive) village.

  • Should I be angry with my sister?

We live so far apart, it is difficult to get to see one another. After lots of broken promises that she would visit me, I went to visit her. I gave her the dates I was arriving 6 months in advance. But when I got there she was working and I hardly saw her. We agreed it would be better if I gave her more notice and she could take leave and we would have a holiday together. So a few years later I gave her a whole year's notice, and went to visit her again. Before I left she said she couldn't go on holiday so I said I would pay for her too. She seemed to think that was a good idea and sounded excited. When I got there, once again she worked the whole time I was there.

Now I don't know what to think. We used to be so close. If she didn't want to see me, she should have said. I only went out there because she kept saying how much she needed to see me. It cost me a lot of money. She also got me to pay out a lot of money for her children as well. Part of me misses the sister who I have so much fun with when we are together. But part of me feels used.

  • Adult step children - how to treat them? I feel like I am being taken advantage of.?

I have been with my partner for 8 years and we both have adult children from previous relationships. We have all known one another since the children were small.

My partner never used to buy birthday presents, but since we have been together I have bought presents for his children and grandchildren. I go out of my way to find special cards, I bake and ice special cakes for the grand children's birthdays (always consulting with 'mum' first). I have helped them all out financially, even giving one a deposit for a house. Yet they are polite, but indifferent to me. They have never once even thanked me for what I have done for them - their response is to always ask for more. They do thank their dad, but never me. I never get so much as a birthday card or even a birthday wish from them. At Christmas they send cards and presents only for my partner. When they phone they politely let me know they don't want to talk to me, it is too much effort to even greet me. They just say "I want to speak to my dad". When I say "Hi Jayne, how are you?" I just get "I want to speak to my dad". Repeated, until I call my partner.

I don't want to fight with them, but over the last few months I have started to back off. I have refused to give anymore financial handouts and I have stopped buying presents, making cakes, etc. I am polite, friendly, but don't want to be taken advantage of anymore.

My partner is very angry. He feels I am being unreasonable. Although I can't think of anything he has ever done for my children even though they are always friendly and helpful towards him and send cards and presents to each of us. I have no objection to him buying presents for his children himself.

Yet again, one of my partner's children has asked him to spend his summer holiday with them (on his own). They are adults, and if they don't want me in their lives, fair enough, but I feel their attitude can be very hurtful and yet my partner says I am the one being unreasonable refusing to spend my money on them.

  • Does anyone know about total lack of sexdrive?

Five years ago my partner suddenly went from having a high sex drive to nothing. Absolutely no interest. Overnight his personality changed to moody, irritable and badtempered. Doesn't even want me to sleep in the same room. Has even stopped masturbating. No, he isn't seeing someone else. He is on low dose anti-depressants, but has been on them for sometime. His testosterone level is at the bottom of the normal range, but the urologist he saw said he won't prescribe testosterone because it kills people.
