2 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police8 years agoCalifornia Meal Breaks and Rest Break Laws?
My research finds that a California employer must relieve their employee of duties for at least a 30-minute meal break if working 5+ hours. But what I cannot find is, how soon can your employer require you to take that meal break after starting work.
Suppose you work a regular 8-hour shift every day from 8 AM – 5 PM. You arrive at work one day and your supervisor tells you to take your lunch today at 10:30 AM, because he/she needs you there for the rest of the day. You’ve only been there for 2.5 hours and you’ll have to work 5.5 hours straight for the rest of the day. Can your employer do this? What is the law state in California?
1 AnswerLaw & Ethics9 years agoShould teens have co-ed sleepovers?
Survey Question for EVERYONE to answer. But please leave if you're a male, female, age, and if your a parent or not.
Should teenagers have co-ed sleepovers?
My answer...absolutely not! I have two teenagers; 16-girl and 19-boy. I don't think it's inappropriate and it's just asking for trouble. They don't seem to understand this; I know they're not supposed to because they're teenagers; they just think they're being mistreated...it's unfair and I don't understand anything. Oh...and I "just don't trust my own kids." It's not about not trusting them because I do; I have raised them right and ultimately have nothing to worry about. But they're teens with off-the-chart hormones.
Please...serious answers only!
11 AnswersAdolescent9 years agoHow to sue the government?
I would like information on behalf of my son and to know if it is possible to sue a judge, jury, AND/OR the District Attorney's Office.
My 18-year-old son falsely accused someone out of anger of a lewd act a year ago (when he was 17); he claimed it happened when he was about 12 years old. He later came clean about it and testified on behalf of the the defendant; the person being accused. However, it still went to a jury trial and he was still found guilty.
This person was sentenced to eight years in prison because of a lie. My son feels guilty and would like to know what options are available for him to take in order to help this person and make things right.
I would appreciate serious answers only. Please...no snide remarks about my son and what he did because you're bored.
3 AnswersLaw & Ethics9 years agoEx Husband Help Needed?
I need help!
My ex husband and I were married for about 10 months when I found out I was pregnant. He told me, "either you have an abortion or I'm leaving." Well I considered it. I considered it because I already had two children by one man so I didn't want a 3rd that I would have to support once again all alone. So he drove me to the clinic, but I just couldn't go through with it. So he was going to leave, so I agreed to do it again. So once again, he drove me to the abortion clinic again. But I still couldn't go through with it. So he left me.
Our son is now 12 years old. For the first six years he paid child support and seen our son when it was convenient for him. But then when he was about 6 years old, he and a new girlfriend (a girl he cheated on me with several times) decided to buy a house together. However, they couldn't afford a house payment while paying child support. So he took me to court to gain 50% custody. After he did that to me, he then turned around a few months later and did the same thing to his daughter's mom (from a relationship before me). But as soon as his daughter turned 18, which was this year, he told her she can go live with her mom now if she wants; that he didn't care. Her response was, "I know the only reason he said that is because he doesn't have to pay child support on me anymore"
He sexually abused me during our whole relationship, forced himself on me every since our break up, even raped two of my best friends, and has been violent towards me as well. Like he busted my lip open before, pushed in the bathroom almost falling in the tub while I was pregnant, shoved me into a wall, has called me horrible, horrible names...names I have never even heard of, and has damaged my property.
Our custody arrangement is exchanging our son every from one parent to another every Friday. Tomorrow I am supposed to get my son back and I always call him on Thursdays to tell him I'm going to pick him on tomorrow on Friday. His dad, my ex-husband got on the phone and said I can't have him anymore. Legally he can't do that and I already called my local sheriff department and they told me to just call them when I'm around the corner, to bring my court documents, and they would assist me in getting my son. However, I have two other children and my disabled mom living with me. I am scared for my life and theirs because he knows where I live. If I take the sheriff over there to pick up my son, I am going to be found somewhere in a ditch dead. His family has gang members, some of which have done prison time for murder.
I called WEAVE but they literally said, "Well what exactly is it that you want us to do?" So they are not going to help me.
I used to work for the Family Courts so I am aware of all my legal options. But legally, there is nothing I can do if I want to live. I cannot move because I'm out of work right now. I own my own home which allows me to keep this place for at least six months without paying the mortgage.
Any advice would be helpful. Please no sarcastic, rude, or immature commits. I just need advice.

2 AnswersLaw & Ethics9 years agoChristmas Gift Ideas?
I need Christmas gift ideas please.
This year is a little different; my husband and I have always went way out getting our kids the latest electronic devices and always spent a few thousand dollars. But this year our family has been through a lot and we have now dedicated our life to God. So I would like to get them one gift that is very meaningful.
My daughter is 15. She is not allowed to wear makeup, have a cell phone, or wear too much jewelry. She's a princess (if you mom's out there know what that means); and that pretty-much sums up her personality.
My son is 12. He too is not allowed to have a cell phone. He used to love just about any kind of art you can think of except music. Now he's just pretty-much into video games. He is also very smart, loves to learn new and interesting things, but hates to read.
Any ideas would help. Thanks so much and Happy Holidays to everyone!
2 AnswersChristmas10 years agoHome Decor Throw Blanket?
I am looking for a throw blanket as a decorative piece for my sofa similar to the one in the photo (follow the link). Except I would like white; solid white. No patterns, no off-white, no ivory...just white. Do you know where I might find one? I have looked on bedbathandbeyond.com, target.com, macys.com, and jcpenny.com.

2 AnswersDecorating & Remodeling1 decade agoChristians; are they true to God's word?
Have you ever noticed that people that call them self a "Practicing Christian" are the most judgmental people? Even though according to Matthew 7:1-2 it says "Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you."
I love God, I know God, I trust God, and I was raised a Christian my whole life (I'm 34). I dropped out of the church at 16 and am recently trying to go back. But it seems like everyone has an opinion. But yet according to Matthew 7:3 says, "And why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye?"
2 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoFace Moisturizer for Older Women with Oily Skin?
I am a woman in my mid 30's with VERY oily skin and on occasion it can be acne prone.
Pretty-much my whole life, I have had a problem with acne and oily skin. I mean...after about an hour or two of washing my face, I probably have enough oil on it to fry a chicken. I have always used over the counter products; some helped, some didn't. For the most part they didn't and then I found something that really did work; tanning.
With me now being in my mid 30's now, I don't need any help with wrinkles; I will soon be getting enough of them with the help of Mother Nature. So I quit using the tanning bed...not to mention, it causes skin cancer.
So my doctor recently gave me Retin-A; it works ALRIGHT...not as good as the tanning bed. But now my skin is very oily again. But I can't use those products that are mostly for teens going through puberty.
So my question is...what is a good face moisturizer for oily skin that also is age defying. I am not too familiar with Olay products, but I think most of them are full of oil.
PLEASE HELP!

My husband and I are buying are first home and are expected to close escrow and move in, in about two weeks; mid July. Is it too late to plant flowers this time of year in California?
5 AnswersGarden & Landscape1 decade agoCan you rent out a Short Sale in California?
My husband and I currently rent but are in the process of buying our first home. We gave our landlord a 30-day notice to move June 1st, moving July 1st. However, he said if our home did not close on time and we needed more time, just to let him know. Well it didn't close on time and we need two more weeks. However, he said we have to stay here a full month and pay a full moth of rent or be out as of yesterday (July 1st); that he cannot and will not prorate the rent because he cannot rent out the property in the middle of the month.
When we gave our 30-day notice to move to our landlord, he said he was going to Short Sale his home. But that he wanted to rent out the property while it is going through the Short Sale. Effective July 1st, he is no longer making his mortgage payments; June 1st was his last payment. He said he couldn't afford it anymore.
Someone told me that once you stop making your mortgage payments, you are no longer the owner and cannot rent it out. Is this true?
3 AnswersRenting & Real Estate1 decade agoDaughter wants to change her name to step-father's?
I just got married and my 13-year-old daughter wants to legally change her last name to my husband's; does anyone know how to do this and will we need her father's permission?
Her father is around but not really there and owes over $70,000 in back child support. My daughter cannot stand her father and she refuses to go to his house every other Saturday as ordered by the courts.

8 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoFlower Girl and Ring Bearer ages?
What is the typical age for a flower girl and ring bearer? I have a 7-year old female cousin and a 2.5-year-old cousin for the flower girl. Then I have a 3-year-old male cousin and a 2-year-old nephew for the ring bearer.
The 7-year-old is WAY tom-boyish and will NOT be happy in a dress. However, I am afraid that the 2.5-year-old is too immature and shy to be the flower girl. The boys...the 3-year-old is very mature and confident and the 2-year-old is shy and immature, and a slow learner. Then.......the young girl and the older boy are brother and sister. I feel bad to have one and not the other.
Any suggestions?
BTW...I don't want both flower girls or miniature bride and groom because I am paying for their clothes.
5 AnswersWeddings1 decade agoSecond marriage with children...suggestions and tips needed.?
I am re-marrying and have three children from my previous relationships. My fiance does not have any.
I was wondering what to do with the children. They are definitely going to play a part in the ceremony; my fiance will have something special for them. But before that and after that. Do I have them walk down the aisle? Should I just have them stand to the side until it's their turn or would they be sitting somewhere near by?
Please help out. Thanks!
6 AnswersMarriage & Divorce1 decade agoWedding Song To Walk Down The Aisle To?
I want to walk down the aisle to "Have I Told You Lately That I Love You" by Rod Stewart. There is only one problem; I cannot find a cd that plays it for a long period of time. I would prefer to have a band at my wedding that plays it, but I cannot afford that.
I prefer the instrumental but I don't mind it with words either because I thinks it's a beautiful song. I just want it to last long enough for my wedding party and I to walk down the aisle to. I would REALLY love for it to still be playing while we are doing our vows, only at a lower volume. But that is not going to happen because that is about 20-30 minutes long total. And I cannot have someone keep getting up to push replay.
So does anyone know where I can find the song that is at least 7 minutes long? I found one website www.pianoreimagined.com, that has an instrumental for almost five minutes, but I am afraid that won't be long enough.
