Can you name some sort of item or product which weighs circa 1 kilo?
Thanks.
I need some sort of real world benchmark to go on, because scientific explanations just don't register in my mind.
6 AnswersOther - Science1 decade agoWhat clever stuff could you do with a small powerful magnet?
I was thinking like you could tie it on a string and swing it through the bars to get the jailors keys.
Any other stuff?
Is it worth carrying a small powerful magnet with me at all times just in case?
16 AnswersPhysics1 decade agoKate McCann is about to be released from Portugese police station after 10 hours.. straight to tell Gerry?
Apparently Gerry is in for questioning tomorrow... as a "witness".
I'm not questioning their innocence/guilt.. at all.
It just seems stupid to me that she will now have opportuntiy to tell Gerry everything that happened during the day... shouldn't he have been taken to a seperate police station during the day for same questioning at same time?
11 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoHas anyone got the OK magazine, UK edition, issue number 586, dated 28th Aug 2007, and a scanner?
It's not the latest edition that's currently on the stands at shops, but the one before.
Jordan & Peter Andre and their baby are on the cover.
Inside is a two page spread about Marbella in the travel section which I'd like to get a copy of.
If you do have a copy please could you scan me those pages relating to the article? I'd be very grateful. :)

3 AnswersMagazines1 decade agoPVC Window handle sheared off... how do I remove whats left so I can fit new handle?
I've removed the 2 black discs but all I can see is 2 holes on either side.
Please check out this photo to see what I mean.
http://www.stormkrewsaders.com/handleheadache.jpg
I can't see any screws inside those holes at all.
I need to remove that bit in full so I can fit the new handle and backing piece that I've bought.
Any ideas please on how? Thanks.

For say 1 year in a normal type of prison.
13 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoI need to write a permanent description on a door-key... what kind of pen/instrument might last?
I can't/don't want to use a tag on the key.
It's a standard metal front door key (of the UK type), very similar to this:
http://www.istockphoto.com/file_thumbview_approve/...
The original key already has writing on it, on the rounded part..... I don't know how they've done it but it really is permanently written on.
I've had a duplicate key cut yesterday... and would like to mark it similarly.
Any ideas how it might be done?
9 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoHow can I fix my parents' pc? It's constantly doing cleanup work for hours?
Mostly its in the evening.. but sometimes afternoon.
When it's doing it, you can hear the hard-drive ticking away in what I presume is it's cleanup / reorganising proceedure, and the system feels slower.... and it takes a long long time to complete whatever it's doing.
Yet it does it so regularly. My pc doesn't do it that frequently.
During it... the task bar doesn't show any unusual processor resources activity (CPU usuage).
Can it be altered to do it's reorganising work less often, and if so how please?
10 AnswersDesktops1 decade agoName my Fantasy Football team?
I'm tired with little inspiration atm. I work at a Law firm... and would like to beat my bosses in the FF league they've invited me to join.
Could do with a good legalish pun type name for my team?
Thanks for any ideas. :)
17 AnswersFantasy Sports1 decade agoWhich UK company has this catchphrase on their adverts - "does what it says on the tin"?
Is there a product I can use on my house's brickwork which makes the brick waterproof?
A long time ago I remember some advert on the telly (UK) - I'm sure it did what I need.
Can't remember the product name or company.. but the catchphrase was something like "does what it says on the tin"
28 AnswersDo It Yourself (DIY)1 decade agoIf I laid a 4ft wall of concrete around my house, would that keep out flood water?
In an emergency... say we had a few days warning of serious floods.
I'm thinking freshly laid concrete actually sticks to the floor (excluding grass), so when it toughens up and dries, the water doesn't pass beneath and through gaps that you get with sandbags.
Is concrete impervious to water though?
I'd like some big aerosol thingy which blasts out like a hot liquid plastic to build an instant waterproof wall around my property... and which biodegrades to nothing when blasted with a different agent.
11 AnswersDo It Yourself (DIY)1 decade agoI need a crash-course on how to use this BlackBerry?
It doesn't even have the model number on it, but I know it's a recent model.
It's black and has 3 rows of symbols on it on the screen.
There is a wheel on the side which allows me to scroll through the symbols.
Below the date and time it says "OFF". How do I get it to say ON.. cause I need to receive important details with it tonight.
I need to have it working for work purposes beginning tonight and I'm in a panic.
2 AnswersPDAs & Handhelds1 decade agoIdeas on how to build your own robot lawn mower? To mow your garden unassisted and automatically?
I don't want to "get a goat" ect, but I want to try to work out a robot lawn moving device which will automatically mow my lawn, perhaps on a daily basis.
My lawn isn't massive, but I only mowed it yesterday, and did it again this evening and it like removed half-a-tub of grass... grass grows too quickly. And if I leave it a week it's hard to mow, 2 weeks and it's a jungle.
There are a couple of companies which already sell Robot mow type of machines, but they are expensive £/$/£.
Here are a couple of examples from YouTube:
Sasha: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQkZHwQvAS0&mode=re...
Installation + operational: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6NWavIQwolo&NR=1
Any ideas if it would be possible to make one from scratch + any inspirational thoughts on how it could be done.
Small petrol engine ?
How to make sure it stays only on the grass?
How to make it mow lawn methodically?
Other stuff?
Any ideas how to go about it?
9 AnswersGarden & Landscape1 decade agoGot a memory block... what was the other money-sending place, like PayPal but different name?
They sort of started at the same time PayPal did... but weren't as successful (probably due to the fact their name was not that memorable and the log-in process was a right pain).
I'm asking cause I know I've still got £10 in my account there.
Thanks.
9 AnswersOther - Internet1 decade agoDo all breakdown recovery firms, such as RAC, AA, have a 10 year car-age limit?
Is there any way of getting breakdown recovery/roadside assistance on a car older than 10 years.
Mine is 5 years old but I'm thinking to the future... as it's a classy golf which is reliable... and it's £12,000 new cost is like only £1,000 a year when spread over 12 years (not a whack of depreciation if you keep with a car in your ownership for a while)... with probably something back when I sell it.
12 AnswersOther - Cars & Transportation1 decade agoWhat is the maximum speed of gravity on a falling object?
Like if you dropped a tennis ball from a great height... does it accelerate during it's decent... and reach a top-out speed of an average maximum velocity?
In simple terms please. (Average maximum velocity of gravity allowing for slight variations in objects which generate some.. .whatever it's called where it slows the airstream)
I ask cause I read about a guy in my almanac... who was on a sidewalk of a US city... when a baby hit him on his head - the baby had fallen from a window of a skyscraper. They both survived - although he took a bit of injury.
Even more strangely.. the exact same thing happened to him 5 years later.. in a different US city, where another baby hit him on his head, having fallen from a skyscraper window. (Don't ask me what kind of person allows babies near skyscraper windows).

17 AnswersWords & Wordplay1 decade agoWhy are Americans so good with their geography knowledge?
I'm currently finishing my teaching degree, and was astonished at the high levels of geography knowledge displayed by my class young American students, during my trainee teacher week.
This was one of the maps of the world was submitted to me in homework by a 10 year old.

However I was to later learn he cheated and got his Dad to do his homework. Still.. well done America. It's reassuring that you know exactly where your nukes are pointing.
