  • Who doesn't like the NHL's 2020 playoff format? And what is your preferred playoff set-up?

    Personally, I like what the NHL did in 1979-80---the top sixteen teams qualified regardless of division OR conference. #1 played #16, #2 played #15, etc. Too bad it was only in use for a year or two.

    (This, of course, explains why the Flyers and Isles met in the Finals in the spring of 1980 despite being in the same division and conference. As NHL fans know, the Islanders beat the Flyers in six games to clinch their first of four straight Stanley Cup titles.)

  • Can the Calgary Flames win the Stanley Cup this year in the face of COVID-19?

    As a Flames fan of nearly four decades, May 25, 1989 has been burned into my brain for all eternity. Oh-so-close in '04. But the question is, can our beloved Flames pull it off and win a second Cup despite the coronavirus and being in the NHL "bubble?"
