  • If I steal a DVD from the store and watch it, does that violate copyright law?

I mean of course I'd be guilty of shoplifting, but along with the disc, did I also shoplift the right to watch it legally? I'd think possession of the disc grants right to watch, even if you don't have the right to posses the disc. The rights go with the disc when you borrow from a friend, so I think they are like an energy the disc carries.

  • What s the best way to stream Netflix to TV with analog inputs only?

I am currently using a Roku LT to stream internet apps on an old CRT TV. While it works fine for Hulu, the be Netflix app is very outdated and won t even automatically start the next episode of a show about other issues. What are some other good options? I can also use complement cables with this TV.

I know using a PC with RCA output is one option, but I d rather have something simple that s operated by a remote.

I have dozens of devices that do Netflix over HDMI, and many TVs be that handle be HDMI. I have an analog room where I keep older TVs along with 30+ classic game consoles and old computers like the Apple II. I can t upgrade these TVs as many older things don t work on newer TVs, such as video game light guns. I don t have room for another TV, but would like to watch Netflix in here also cause it s my bedroom too! I typically watch classic TV (50s-80s) while falling asleep so HD isn t important for this room.

Just saying all that to avoid many telling me to upgrade. I have a 65" OLED 4k set with HDR and DolbyVision - I m no stranger to quality, I just wanna fall asleep watching Dick Van Dyke in my bedroom! And not have to manually start every episode.

    Thanks!

  • When using an SLI setup with two GeForce cards, can I use the HDMI out on each for separate monitors?

Or would I need to use two outputs from the 'main' card?

Each card has one HDMI and several DisplayPort outputs, so I'm wondering if I need a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter, or if I can use the HDMI output on the second card.

I don't have the second card yet so I can't test, but want to have what I need when it gets here. I know that some have strong opinions on SLI and whether it is useful. I got a fantastic deal on a second card and figured I'd go SLI, so I don't need any speeches about SLI being stupid etc, just trying to figure out what I need.

  • I'm thinking about getting Lego Dimensions. Do you actually have to rebuilt a vehicle etc to change it?

I have been looking at Lego Dimensions and saw that each vehicle etc you can buy can be rebuilt 3 different ways. Do you have to build them at all, or just use the base that came with it? Seems far less neat if the disc base is all that really matters, I'd like something that actually requires me to build to proceed, where it can tell on its own if I changed to another build.

  • Is there a way to have a Mac convert stereo audio output to surround?

I have my Mac and my PC connected via HDMI to a home theater receiver. They both output 5.1 PCM surround sound constantly. However, with my PC I can set it to simulate surround when playing a stereo source. This sends the vocals to the center speaker, which makes them much more clear. With the Mac, it only outputs sound to the left and right for a stereo source. Since it is still a 5.1 signal with silence on all channels except L/R, my receiver can't see that it is stereo to convert it using Pro Logic itself. Is there a way to matrix the other surround channels on a Mac like I do on PC?

Note: My current workaround is to change my Mac to output stereo so that my receiver can convert it, however, I have to switch it back and forth as I switch between stereo and surround content. I often can't tell which it is until I try in surround. I'd love to have it do like my PC and just matrix the other channels if they aren't there. Is there a way?
