  • I installed Sims3 in Japanese; can I still use custom content/mods?

My computer (Windows 7)'s locale was in Japanese when I installed Sims3, along with the Supernatural, World Adventures, and Pets expansion packs. My computer itself isn't in Japanese, just the locale, but it seems like Sims3 thought I read Japanese because when I went to install the Pets and Supernatural packs (not the base game and World Adventures, oddly enough) the installer was in Japanese. And just to throw another curveball, the gameplay is all English.

What I want to know is if I can still install mods or custom content. Will there be some sort of conflict?

  • How to jailbreak iPod Touch without deleting notes? Or, how to transfer notes to computer?

I want to jailbreak my iPod Touch (8 GB, version 4.2.1). However, I have a ton (over 650) notes on it. Is there anyway to jailbreak it without deleting the notes? If not, is there any way to transfer all the notes on a computer (or Google Docs)? For free? (Or a very cheap app?)

I can't sync notes though iTunes because the computer that the iPod is connected to is running Windows 7, and there's no way I'm paying $130 for Outlook.

Also, since the iPod is a bit old, I can't use iSync/iCloud/whatever it's called.

I know of one program that lets me view notes on the computer when the iPod is plugged into the computer, but it won't let me transfer the notes without paying $25 for a license.

I really don't want to have to e-mail 650+ notes to myself and then organize them in Google Docs. I've tried that, and it takes forever.

  • Is a green-on-black website okay for the colorblind/dyslexic?

I'm designing a website (not a professional one, mostly just for practice). I want to make it as easy to read for those with vision and/or reading problems.

I want it to have a black background, but I'm not sure which color to choose for text. I would prefer to use green or red (not both) for the text, but would that be a bad choice? Would blue or white text be a better option?

Instead of trying to describe the exact shades of colors I plan to use, I just made a blank page with four sentences, each in a different color as an example. If you could take a quick look, I'd appreciate it. http://lostintranslation.net16.net/

...okay, at least one person is going to think I just want attention for the site or whatever. If that's you, the hex codes for the colors I was thinking of using for the text were 0000FF, FF0000, or 00FF00. The background is plain old black, 000000. Assuming I stay away from white (FFFFFF), which is my best option?

  • How would you describe your political affiliation?

Okay, maybe this should go under Polls/Surveys, but I'd rather hear from those who lurk around Politics. You know who you are.

So I was just wondering how ya'll would classify yourself, because Yahoo answers seems to be the most politically balanced website I've been on. By "politically balanced", I mean that you will be taken seriously whether you ask "Why are liberals so stupid?" or "Why are conservatives so stupid?"

Meanwhile it seems like almost everyone on a certain "art" website is a crazy liberal, while everyone on a certain "news" website is a crazy conservative. On second thoughts, comparing TMZ and deviantArt are kind of like comparing a tabloid magazine with a recolored wolf, so forget that comparison altogether and just answer the question please.

  • Am I turning into a liberal? Or was I born this way?

My parents aren't affiliated with any political party. And they're Catholic. But for some reason, they just don't seem to trust anyone who uses the Bible to support their political agenda, and I'm shocked to find I don't either. Over time, I've gathered evidence and come to the conclusion that my parents are actually...liberals. *dramatic music*

Now, they aren't socialists and don't support marijuana legalization. But they do support gay marriage and other LGBT rights, and they aren't scared of atheists--or Muslims--and they don't think Creationism should be taught in schools. Oh, and they think abstinence-only education is just asking for trouble.

However, although I don't know their parents very well, I can safely say that they were less liberal than my parents. Not that my grandparents are hardline conservatives, just that they were less liberal if not somewhat conservative. It's like my parents somehow became more liberal. For example, my grandfather still has a shotgun, while my parents do not own any guns and do not even like me using water guns for fear of trivializing real guns.

Meanwhile, I believe that marijuana should be an option for cancer patients. I think abstinence-only sex education should be made illegal in public schools. I support tighter regulation of purchasing firearms, especially handguns. And I do not believe anyone needs a submachine gun to keep their home safe. I do not really care if "under God" is left in the Pledge or not as long as everyone has the option of leaving it out/altering it if they so choose. I believe all this ruckus about Mexicans are stealing our jobs!!1!" is going to fade like the "Yellow Fever" scare when the Chinese were apparently all out to steal our jobs.

Furthermore, I'm actually GLAD that fairly soon white people will no longer be the majority race in America. I'm not sure why; maybe I naively hope that it will get people to realize that different people have different value systems and you can't classify a person by the country they live in. America was never "a melting pot"; it's more like a mosaic (School House Rock lied to you). By the way, I myself am white.

I might be a bit more liberal than my parents, who themselves were more liberal than their parents. From this, I have two main questions:

    1. Do you think younger generations are naturally more liberal than those before them? Has it always been this way, or is it a sign of changing times and/or the increased usage of mass media/technology?

    2. Based on this trend, will my hypothetical children become gay stoner socialists?

  • How to say "I cannot speak Japanese" in Japanese?

I'm not looking for the romaji version. How would I write it in Japanese?

As in, "I do understand the Japanese language", not "I am physically unable to speak Japanese or anything else for that matter because a bee stung my tongue and it swelled it due to a minor allergic reaction so I was hoping you could point me to a doctor who has some hope of understanding what's wrong if I write stuff in English instead of just pointing at my mouth and saying aaaaappphhhhsszaaah."

  • Changing default font in RPG Maker XP?

I download a game for RPG Maker XP. Unfortunately, when I try to play it, no text shows up, although everything else seems to work fine. Even if I edit the game to put in roman text (ie, not Japanese), still nothing shows up.

I'm thinking this might be a font issue, even though I have common Japanese fonts (MS P明朝, etc) installed on my system. So, I need to find out how to change the default font into something that I definitely have installed. It's hidden somewhere among the Scripts, right?

By the way, I'm using Windows 7, and my system locale is set to Japanese. (I have used other Japanese programs with no problem.) If this were RPG Maker VX, it'd be no problem, but the "make a folder named Fonts" trick doesn't work for XP.
