  • Best music apps for Android?

I really want to switch from Apple to Samsung, but the thing holding me back is iTunes’ functionality. Specifically the smart playlists feature, where I organize songs by my star ratings. iTunes is so well synced and easy to use with iPhones, and I worry music managing will be less seamless on an Android. If someone can quell this worry with a good alternative, I’ll finally be willing to leave iOS behind.

  • What can I do to get 2 feral kittens adopted?

I say feral because I know for sure they're not strays, not because they're fearful or antisocial. They've been coming around my house lately alongside a feral adult male who has been around for awhile. I've been feeding them in hopes of earning their trust so that I can catch them and get them adopted so they don't live a life on the streets. They're still young, maybe 9-10 weeks, and it's clear they still will be able to grow accustomed to humans if given attention. How should I go about this, especially once I do manage to capture them?

  • What would you call the person a servant works for?

Like in a more old time. A maid for instance who works for a wealthy family. Can you think of any words for the household besides "her masters." Like, she is subservient to her ___.

  • Grammar question?

"Unlike the living room, windows and natural lighting in the rest of the home was few and far between" is a sentence I have written in a story.

In this sentence, I have a plural and non-plural. If it were only windows for example, it'd be "windows were few and far between", right? In this case, which would it be? Or should I just reword it to avoid conflict.

  • What carbs are best in dry cat food?

Or is there no important difference? A lot of your average cat foods have carbs (which I know are necessary in the production of dry food) such as brewers rice, gluten meal, and wheat. But grain-free alternatives that are said to be healthier have alternate carbs such as potatoes, peas, tapioca starch, etc.

So if they both have carbs, are the latter types still better? Or is it more of a marketing ploy? I know regardless though it's important to avoid meat by-products.

  • My iPad dies if I leave it alone for a while without using it?

I can leave my phone around for a day just fine and while the battery might decrease a bit, it doesn't die on me. My iPad on the other hand, if I leave it alone from one day to the next, I'll find it dead when I need to use it. Maybe the screen isn't shutting off when the case is closed? It seems weird for it to die like that when I'm not even using it. I have to make sure to turn it off if I want it to last for the next time I need it. Is this to be expected..?

  • Help to find a song?

ics into youtube tooPretty sure no one is gonna know it, but parts of the lyrics go like this:

"meet me in the (cold breeze?)"

"serotonin ___" before moving to the next line. It's an indie song. I most likely found it through the youtube channel called IndieAir. I've tried google and lyric search sites, and typed those lyrics into youtube too. Maybe I get lucky and someone here knows the song

  • Where to buy wool for needle felting?

When I first got into needle felting a started off with a multi-color set off of amazon that came with a multitude of small color bunches. However, ordering it a 2nd time, the colors weren't all the same, so I don't want to get stuck mid-project without the correct color. So later for another project I bought off of paradise fibers (and I have a ton left over). But is there anywhere I can buy small bunches of wool (since most of the time they are small projects that need multiple colors, versus a large project with the same color).

Taking care of a tree seed for a bonsai?

A friend gave me a bonsai growing kit for (Japanese black pine). It came with 6 seeds, a plastic 'mini greenhouse', soil, and something that looks like perlite. We set it up and it had to be put in the fridge for 20 or so days to simulate winter. We took it out recently and are keeping outdoors but protected on the window sill.

I watered it a bit the other day and since then there has been condensation inside the 'mini greenhouse' and the soil looks consistently moist (I hope it won't leave the soil soaked...). It is in this plastic 'mini greenhouse' that has two holes on top and two on the bottom. I'm keeping it outside on the windowsill, inside a clay pot to protect from harsh sun and make sure it doesn't fall. I guess I'm just looking for general tips to make sure my tree is doing okay. How much water, how much sun should it get? Etc.

  • Best way to water a tree seed for a bonsai?

A friend gave me a bonsai growing kit for (I think it was a Japanese black pine). It came with 6 seeds, a plastic 'mini greenhouse', soil, and those white pellets that help with drainage idr what they're called. We set it up and it had to be put in the fridge for 20 or so days to simulate winter. We took it out recently and are keeping outdoors but protected on the window sill.

My question is how much should I water it? It is in this plastic 'mini greenhouse' that has two holes on top and two on the bottom. I know it has to be "moist but not wet" but that isn't very helpful. I know I could probably take the top off the mini greenhouse but it seems like a pain because it is very tight and I'm not sure if I should. What are some suggestions not overwater it and care for it properly (if maybe can provide pictures to see how the soil should look like since the mini greenhouse is transparent?). Should I take off the top or can I water it without doing so?

  • Why was Yellowstone NP established?

I'm not totally convinced that the govt created Yellowstone for the *sole* preservation of a scenic area. At a time when they were hellbent on conquering the West. The act does say: "hereby reserved and withdrawn from settlement, occupancy, or sale under the laws of the United States, and dedicated and set apart as a public park or pleasuring ground for the benefit and enjoyment of the people"

However is it 100% genuine? Or maybe it was *in part* influenced by perhaps not finding that the isolated land had much economic value? Lol I know this isn't a reliable source but most sites will simply say "oh what a great job the govt did!" which doesn't help confirm my thoughts.

  • The Huawei's P30 phone camera?

Why is the Huawei's P30 rear cameras sooo much higher in megapixels than like any other cameras. One of them is like 40 MP, and then phones like the Samsung S10e are 16 MP for one of the cameras and the Apple X has 12 MP cameras? Something about that is kind of suspicious? How is there such a high difference, unless the Huawei is hiding something behind its 40 MP camera? Like that the camera is 40 but the photos only come out to like 10 or something?

  • Is there a word for responding in an annoyed way?

    Like in this scenario

"You don't need to worry about me," Jake said, annoyed.

"You don't need to worry about me," Jake said in an annoyed voice.

I don't want that ^ I want to use a word if possible to replace said, like when you use 'he muttered' rather than 'he said'

Is there a word like that? Something that means annoyed, but in a more subtle way that just writing annoyed. Thank you!!

  • Is this a grammatically correct sentence?

'She saw a narrow staircase leading upwards to a second floor.'

I know that if there is a staircase, it's pretty obvious there is a second floor. But at the same time I kinda want the sentence to feel like "oh, I just noticed there's a staircase to another floor" rather than 'to the second floor' which makes it seem like I already knew it was there. This is during a quick description part of where the character currently is since it's a new place she is visiting.

  • Ideas for a plot surrounding a romance in a story?

I'm writing a short little story in my free time. I've written a few pages, and while so far I haven't had issues moving the story along (introducing the character's lives, and the starting of the romance). I need a plot to drive the characters forward, and I want something that isn't directly tied to the romance. Essentially I mean

No story centered around issues between them like one of them moving away which complicates things, or drama like a love triangle, or one of them having trust issues or keeping secrets.

I want the 'plot' to be an outside issue dealing with the world around them, like maybe some supernatural phenomenon or weird/bad things going on in their neighborhood (they're high school students btw). So the romance will be influenced by this, but the conflict /of/ the romance isn't the plot. If that makes sense.

If anyone has ideas I would be super grateful.

  • Help finding possible new phones?

My phone took an accidental dunk and I am unsure if it'll survive. I might have to get a new phone. I don't want an Apple phone. And I've tried hard in the past to look for phones out of curiosity, but none of them fit what I needed.

I would like a phone that's still fairly small (my current one is the iPhone SE, 4 in. screen, 4.87 in. phone). I would like something as close to that as possible. My car doesn't have bluetooth and I still like the capability of charging and listening to music at the same time, so if it is a rare breed that still has a headphone jack, that'd be a blessing. I don't expect ppl to do the research for me, but if anyone already knows of some phones that fit the criteria I would be happy. I thought the Google pixel 1 would be a perfect fit, but Google doesn't sell it themselves anymore and I don't wanna buy from 3rd party.

  • Questions about getting an MS in wildlife biology or zoology?

    1) What is the difference between a zoologist and wildlife biologist? And I mean in the sense of their work environments. I know zoologists tend to specialize with specific types of animals (mammalogists, herpetologist, etc) and their behaviors. While wildlife biologists tend to focus more on animals and their connections to the environment, with ties to conservation.

    2) Can I get a career as a wildlife biologist with a MS Zoology degree?

    3) What kind of positions can I get with a Zoology MS degree? I don't wanna be a zookeeper if possible, more so I would like to work in research, lab work, field work, etc (but not academia which means I don't want a Ph.D)

    Thanks!

  • Should this be capitalized?

I know readers tend to be annoyed by "Unnecessary Capitalization to show its importance to the story", particularly in fantasy novels. The characters live in the western province of Neilan, the main large continent. The western province doesn't have any other official name, that's literally what it's called always, so do you think it needs to be capitalized? I don't think so, but I just wanted second opinions. But also, it's not like a proper name like New York City, it's located on the west coast of the continent, hence it's known as the western province. It doesn't have a name like the Arcadian Province, it's just that the continent is divided into 4 provinces and this one is to the west. That's why I'm confused if it needs to be capitalized or not. I suppose "the western province" is still kinda its official name.

  • Questions about graduate studies?

So, I am currently a Geoscience (similar to geology, but also includes studying of water/hydrology, volcanoes, meteorology, etc.) major that's about a year and a half away from finishing my B.S. I know I need to do graduate school afterward not only because I'm in a science-related field, but also because I wanna switch my field. I want to go into something related to ecology, wildlife biology, and/or conservation. I know I want to do scientific work (field work, lab work, etc), however I don't think I wanna do my *own* research. I would rather work on research projects that other people want to do that I am also interested in. I don't want to be at the helm of a project, I would simply like to be in the middle of the pack, where I am also interested in the project but I'm not having to come up with ideas myself. So, I think I can rule out Ph.Ds, since I don't think I will need it if I won't be performing my own research. However, I'm guessing my best option is a thesis Master's (versus a non-thesis) because it'll keep more doors open for me in the future and will give my experience in lab work and experiments?
