  • Which is the easiest to stop - smoking or drinking?

A friend of mine has decided he smokes and drinks too much and now really wants to stop both, obviously one at a time and has asked me which I think he should attempt first.

I can imagine either will be hard to stop but which one do you think will the least painful - I think if he goes for the easier one and succeeds it will give him more confidence to eventually tackle the second.

    Many thanks.

  • My nephew & some of his friends are on Facebook at an average of 9 years old?

To join Facebook you have to be at least 13 years old and I have recently found out that my nephew (aged 9) and some of his friends regularly use it.

I have spoken to his parents and they just say that everyone does this. I think Facebook must have this rule for a reason and I do feel they are too young. Can I report it and, if so, how?

    Thank you.

  • LOCKING PETROL CAP JAMMED!?

The locking petrol cap in my old Ford Fiesta is jammed - I think someone has tampered with it - maybe trying to syphon petrol.

I have tried everything to get it open and am now VERY low on petrol - how can I get it open - I don't mind if I end up causing slight damage to the car but really need to be able to use it.

    Many thanks.

  • I have a problem with wireless internet connecting?

I have just bought a wireless laptop and searched for access connections. we are in a 'hot spot' so I thought that it would be a 'doddle'

I found one and connected to it. My laptop is telling me that I am connected to the network and the signal is excellent. Yet when I try to access an internet site it keeps saying 'cannot find server'

I am obviously doing something seriously wrong.

I really don't have any technical knowledge of laptops etc so if someone could guide me through the procedure in 'lay-mans' terms I would be really grateful.

    Thanks and regards Jay

PS - to ask this question I have re-connected to my landline broadband service

  • I would like to show my laptop in use to a housebound friend - can I just plug into her telephone line?

I have a friend who would love to see the internet in action but she is virtually housebound. She has seen my offline photo albums etc.

I am on cable broadband but cable is not available in her village.

What will happen if I plug into her phone extension socket and if it works what sort of cost do you think it would incur. Do you think it would be like a normal standard dialled number?

    We are in the UK

Any quick suggestions would be gratefully received as I am due to visit her tomorrow.

  • To clean or not to clean old jewellery?

I have a gold ring with a large amethyst stone and it is in desperate need of cleaning.

I have now been told that if I clean around the amethyst there is a good chance that the stone will be loose because it has moved slightly over the years because of the build up of grime

If anyone out there can give a tad of advice it would be much appreciated.

    Thanks Jay

  • How can I download a Yahoo Fix for my computer and will it help?

I cannot view an ebay item without getting the message that Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. I have sent the report to Microsoft countless times and have tried all of their suggestions except for download a fix from the Yahoo toolbar. But, the question is, how can I do that?

This very rarely happens on any other page but never 100% of the time - litterally it is every time I go in to view a listing - it might be saving me money as I cannot buy anything but it is very annoying as I love looking at what is for sale.

I have oooked at some similar questions on Yahoo and tried some of their suggestions - I have downloaded spybot, avg etc to no avail.

I am a gran and only understand how to use email, search for info etc so would love an answer in layman's terms.

    Thank you in advance J
