If the US spends so much money on the millitary, why are their soldiers paid slave wages?
http://www.defencejobs.gov.au/army/payandbenefits/...
http://www.goarmy.com/content/goarmy/benefits/mone...
A private in the US millitary gets paid US$17,366 per year after two years of service,
A soldier training in the Australian army gets (AU$30,709) US$29,843 and when training has finished gets a minimum wage of (AU$52,910) or US$51,433 when converted to US dollars per year
15 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoIs serving in the army really like the movie Jarhead?
Is that movie accurate, is it actually like that?
6 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoSince conservatives don't want universal healthcare?
Is it far to say that they are serial killers since theyre letting people die from preventable illnesses?
Australias universal healthcare system (also called medicare) costs 2.5% of income tax,
Are you so selfish that you cant seriously spare 2.5% of your income tax so that poor people dont have to die?
12 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoPolitics: How do you feel that...?
How does it feel that in an economy of 300,000,000 people and 14 trillion dollars.
Only 400 people own $1.37 trillion dollars, or almost 10% of the total economy. Which is more money than the entire GDP of India with a population of over a billion people.

The billionaire sitting behind his desk on Wall Street or the person cleaning the toilets at McDonalds?
Who works harder?
17 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWhat do you think about Communist Cuba being more developed than the USA in some ways?
Cubans are on average more educated than Americans (Source: United Nations Education Index), have longer life expectancies, lower incidences of suicide and less incidents of infant mortality.
What do Americans think about that?
15 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoCan all the hysterical people thinking that Obama is a Socialist and the US is becoming Communist?
Please look at their neighbor Canada and realize that they're way more left-wing than the USA and they're currently run under a Conservative government.
11 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWould you work for $50 an hour in a Communist society?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:OECD_Productivit...
Looking at GDP per hour worked, Americans make just above $50US an hour at PPP, slightly behind France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Norway and Ireland.
Imagining if you were living in a Communist society, would you perform any job for $50US an hour, also assuming you would be a doctor or a surgeon and be happy with a salary of that amount.
This is a really simple question, actually answer it and don't complicate it.
14 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWhen do you predict the USA will become Communist?
Im not asking if you think it's going to happen or not, Im just asking for a reasonable estimate.
15 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWhat's so bad about a big government if a small government isn't going to represent your interests properly?
The USA has 100 people in their Senate, Canada has 105.
Canada has 30 million people, the USA has 300 million people.
Don't you think that only 100 senators is an extremely inaccurate political representation of the US public considering the population in comparison? To reach Canada's per capita amount of senators there should be 1000 senators.

Why is it illegal to burn the US flag in Australia, but it's perfectly legal to burn the American flag in America?

10 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWho thinks that Obama isn't left wing enough?
32 of the 33 developed countries on this planet have a universal healthcare system, with the only developed country without universal healthcare being the USA.
So, basically, the USA is a far-right wing country, since all right wing countries apart from the USA have universal healthcare.
and Obama didn't even try to implement universal healthcare.
Basically, Obama sits on the far-right of the political spectrum. If he sits further right than the 32 developed countries with universal healthcare.

11 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoHow plausible do you think it is, Obama being a Muslim?
Since he was volunteering at a Catholic church based community organisation, had been baptized and attended the same church for two decades,
Do you really think that Obama is a Muslim, and that even many years before he was even a senator he was pretending to be a Christian so that some day in the future he might be elected as the US president and impose Muslim interests on the USA?
11 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoPolitics: How much money do Americans pay on average for their healthcare?
In Australia you pay 2.5% of your income tax towards the governments universal healthcare program,
If you pay for the private system yourself you don't have to pay the extra tax,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medicare_(Australia)#...
How much do Americans spend on their healthcare? I'm just curious.
12 AnswersPolitics1 decade agowhy are conservatives so greedy?
when I was in the Netherlands with family, me and my mother visited one of her friends daughter who is disabled and lives in a state-funded disabled care complex.
And I was really impressed with the level of care, it was just wonderful!
The apartment she was given was quite similar to this picture I found on google and it was as modern and well furnished as this one:
http://www.nice-apartment.fr/images/nice-apartment...
i just posted that to give an idea of the level of care, because it was magnificent.
And it just made me so happy?
How could you deny paying up to 40% in income taxes like they do in the Netherlands, knowing that the elderly and disabled are well looked after?
11 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoIf American capitalist healthcare system is so great?
Then why are 750,000 Americans traveling to other countries for healthcare every year,
And the amount of people that want to use the US healthcare system?
65,000-85,000
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medical_tourism
Also the number of Australians signing a petition to let Americans know that their healthcare system sucks:
140,351
Which is quite a lot of people from such a small population.
10 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWhy is the USA's left-wing neighbour doing so much better?
Univeral healthcare, a very progressive tax system, same-sex marriage is legalised,
and Canada's economy is doing exceptionally well,

"The 20 world leaders at an economic summit in Toronto next weekend will find themselves in a country that has avoided a banking crisis, and where the economy grew at a 6.1 percent annual rate in the first three months of this year. The housing market is hot, and three-quarters of the 400,000 jobs lost in the recession have been recovered.
The banks are stable because, in part, they're more regulated. As the United States and Europe loosened financial regulations over the past 15 years, Canada refused to do so. The banks also aren't as leveraged as their U.S. or European peers.
There was no mortgage meltdown or subprime crisis in Canada. Banks don't package mortgages and sell them to the private market, so they need to be sure their borrowers can pay back the loans.
"The rest of the world certainly thinks we're the model to follow," said Martin, who was prime minister from 2003 to 2006. "I've been asked by a lot of countries as to how to go about it."

18 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoHas anyones political views been changed by this website?
I think that 98% of the people who go on this website will leave it with the same political persuasion before they discovered Yahoo Answers > Politics.
Do people realize you don't really change anything or influence people?
Also, the arguing is bringing people to more extreme political persuasions, I feel as if most people on this board began as quite moderate and then became either far left or right wing and borderline hysterical. Including myself.
