I've been seeing a great gal for 4 years. She's handicapped...not from birth, but from an injury. The first year and a half....everything was great, but now it's really putting a strain on me mentally and financially. She's now on pain meds like you wouldn't believe. We've gone through surgeries, doctors and hospitals like crazy.And she smokes. Usually this wouldn't bother me, but sometimes she's so doped up, she doesn't know there's a lit cigarette in her hand. Recently, I woke up to the smell of smoke, she fell asleep on the couch and the blanket on her was on fire!

I want to start a business outside the home, but I'm just terrified I'm going to come home to ashes.

I literally do everything since she cannot walk. After work I keep the house in order, pay the bills and make sure she has what she needs. I don't get any help from her family....one even owes me money. Plus how many times family of hers has moved in when caught in a bind. So I ask, am I a jerk for wanting to get out?
