  • Daughter was injured at school?

My 15 year old daughter was injured in a slip and fall accident at school. The custodian reported the injury to the office and told them she needed to be checked out. The secretary did not notify anyone, not the school nurse, principal, nor either of her parents of accident. That night, my daughter told me about it. There was NO wet floor sign visible. She was coming in from PE and the floor to the changing room had never ONCE been wet in the entire time she had been in school in front of those doors at the end of PE very small school same gym for both jr high and high school so for 4 years all the girls have pe same time and none of them saw a wet floor sign until after they came back out from changing. The custodian is the only one who checked on my daughter. We went to the principal to talk about what had happened 2 days after accident, he knew nothing of it and asked us to wait in office and let him investigate when he came back in he said the custodian did in fact tell the secretary about the accident and did tell her my daughter needed checked out. His excuse for no one being notified was "secretary gets busy sometimes". He had custodian show him the area of accident and asked about a wet floor sign, when he came back in after his "investigation" he said they were at fault.that the wet floor sign was up but in the WRONG place to be seen by the girls. he said the custodian did admit it was her fault and that he would have a meeting with the custodial staff on where to place signs correctly the next day, which I believe he did. I called to make appointment with my daughter's primary physician who informed me to take her to the ER as he was leaving and wouldn't be back for a few days. The ER doctor pretty much blew us off. My daughter slid hard into a metal pole between two open doors going into the changing room where she hit her knee so hard she could barely walk and when I touched both knees to feel the difference her kneecap popped back up higher plus wrist to elbow. The ER doctor really gave us no diagnosis and didn't even want to x-ray but I insisted on an x-ray of her wrist. he then came back in with 3 wraps. He wrapped her wrist and then handed me the other two wraps and told me to wrap her elbow and knee myself (with no instruction) and its not like he was busy, there was NO OTHER patients in the ER when we were there. I am no more a medical expert than the custodian who was the only person who checked my daughter out at school. So, that was a Thursday and we saw her primary physician on Tuesday (one week after accident) and when we told him the whole story he said he was going to report the ER doctor and he ordered another large round of x-rays. When we went to the same hospital to get the new x-rays we signed in through the outpatient registration and the lady saw my daughter had just been in the ER a few days before and started a chit chat about that...so I told her the whole story from what happened at school, the ER, and what her primary said about the care (or lack of it) that she got from the ER doctor and how he was going to report the doctor. She asked who the ER doctor was and then called him by the nickname the rest of the hospital calls that ER doctor "dr. stupid"...REALLY???? and she asked me to fill out a complaint, which I did. The ball seems to have been dropped on my daughter beginning with school and ending with care she got in ER...for if that care was correct, then why did her primary tell me he was going to report the ER doctor known as "dr stupid" by the employees of the hospital? I have been told you cannot sue a school for an accident because they have immunity as a government institution. But what if they ADMIT guilt as the principal did? And what about the care at the ER? My daughter's pain has not subsided. She has nightmares about the fall and new falls almost everynight and is scared to walk down the halls at school for fear someone will run into her or she will slip and fall again. She is an artist, that wrist is still in so much pain and we have no diagnosis yet for anything...what if she can't draw anymore? she planned to write and illustrate her own books as her future job...she has already written and illustrated some and had offers to publish if she can give them 3 more in a certain amount of time...which now we can't do because of the injury and we don't know if her talent for illustration will still be there after she heals. Her father had an accident similar to his knee as a child and later in life had to have surgery....what if that happens to her? How can I protect her future? Are there any Physicians or Attorneys out there that can give me advice

  • muslim and agnostic?

Ok, I really don't believe in any religion, but I have a question...is this why my muslim "friend" won't commit? In today's world, in the USA, is it really that important to be the same religion or to even have a religion. I mean, I don't care what religion anyone is and I don't follow any religion. I believe in their right to any beliefs. I just don't understand if it is that important to be muslim if you are the female and does it mean the same if you "join" that religion now?

  • Help with young adult child?

Why would my 18 year old son do the following and what should I do, my heart is broken. Their father left their life a long time ago and I went as far as to put his name on presents at birthday and christmas so they wouldn't think he had forgotten. I let my son and his girlfriend live in my farm house for free while they got on their feet...I bought groceries when they had no money, gave them just about anything they needed, helped them both find good jobs. After 2 years, they told me they were pregnant, I didn't freak all I did was ask them what they planned to do, then I have helped them plan for having a baby. I got a call from my son yesterday saying that they had bought wedding rings, they are actually common law married in Texas. I am getting calls wondering why none of the family was invited to the wedding--he told people he got married the day before yesterday but didn't tell anyone...why has he done this...did he get married without telling me or what
