  • How do you deal with jealousy?

Sigh i just got rejected for a scholarship I applied for. For whatever reason I got it into my head I was a shoo-in. Anyway, one of my co-workers also applied for the same university and was rejected as well?

This school is very expense, and with the rate of exchange etc etc means without funding it'll be real hard to go.

My problem is, if she gets to go to school in September, I'll be so jealous....because I feel she only applied after she found out I had applied to that school and department (not entirely true, but emotionally the thought can't get out of my head).

I don't want to be the kind of person who, wishes people ill when things aren't going my way. How do you work though your jealous feelings, and not let other's "gifts" make you feel bad about yourself?

  • Is Reggae really peace loving music?

I keep hearing that reggae is peace loving music and that violence and homophobic lyrics are ruining the music Bob Marley and Peter Tosh made famous.

    Umm, since when?

So Bob only sang about three singing birds, shining suns and jamming? Is that it?

I love War, is that about flowers and peace loving in the sunshine, no it's about not accepting racism or facing the violent consequences.

What about Redemption Song, and Who The Cap Fit?

Why Reggae music gets painted with a peace loving island music brush as though that's all there is to it?

I keep hearing the descriptions by foreign journalists complaining about the violence in dancehall, the degradation of women and homophobic lyrics.

    What the hell?

Reggae and dancehall music are more than that. Isn't it?

I just wondered if I was alone in my thinking.

I'm looking at Universities in the United States and England as options for Masters, and posibly PhD study. How do I know they aren't diploma mills, that they offer reputable study programmes from well-trained staff?

Also has anyone heard of Fielding University's Media Psychology Doctoral Programme? Is it a good programme?

    Thanks

  • Being Environmentally Conscious in T&T?

Since the environment is such a big issue, and coming off an extreamely dry Dry season and heading into a potentially very active Hurricane season, what can we do in T&T to save the environment.

I work in the newsroom at C headquarters, so we've established a recycling bin for the tons of paper we use everyday...still trying to find someone who recyccles newspapers, because the amount that passes thought our department is scary.

But if I wanted to do more at home, what would you suggest?

  • Why Bribe?

I'm writing an essay on the above. Could you suggest great websites or books that would help me research this topic, I'm not into finances and business, my degree was psychology.

Or even a great angle for my essay, thanks.

  • What to Do When Your Dram Job Becomes Your Nightmare?

I work for a media house, television and radio. But poor management is making them lose their focus, and I'm feeling stagnated.

Plus I'm trying to take in front and switch departments and these people are only playing games.

    I feel so frustrated.

  • I want to write for a magazine, how do I start?

I'm want to write for local fashion magazines, but I've never done it before. Is a normal resume enough, or must you have a portfolio to start with?
