  • what happens if you keep chlorinated pool water in a jar?

I kept pool water in a glass jar to remember all the good times, and a few years later, the glass is wavy and yellow stuff settled at the bottom. What should I do to get rid of the jar?

  • Would you rather be intellectually advanced or happy and content with living your life?

Being honest here, it seems that the more technology, the higher depression rates are. Now, a mindblowing percent of teens suffer from mental health issues, such as depression and anxiety. Look back a hundred years, and people seemed to be happier.

The question is, are we getting too "smart", and in the process, depressed and apathetic?

  • What is the worst bike crash you've been in?

The other day, I had my second crash. While in a draft line, I hit the wheel in front of me, then just slid across the road on my head and shoulder. Smacked my head, a bit of road rash, but for the most part, nothing bad at all. Kinda scary to think of what could have happened if a car came or if I wasn't wearing a helmet. It's my second crash in over 1000 miles, how do you compare to that?

  • What does it mean to "swim pretty"?

A guy told me that I swim pretty, in competitions and what not, saying it like it was bad. What does he mean by that?

  • Is it tacky/looked down on for someone to buy a jersey as a vacation memento?

My friend and I are debating on whether or not getting a cycling jersey from where we are visiting is cool or not, not the nation's team, just the flag and name. Any thoughts? Would you commemorate your trip with one?

  • Pain in my upper heel/back of ankle?

For the past few days, the back of my ankle/heel have been in pain whenever I put force on it, like running or cycling. There is slight swelling and it looks bruised.it hurts to bend my foot forward, or to walk even. I am a pretty big runner and cyclist, any idea on what this might be?

  • Is three flat tires unreasonable for 500 miles?

I've ridden around 500 miles so far, all added up, and all together I have had three flats (road bike, 23 mm tires). All of them have been caused by pinches. Is that average or do I get more than average?

I was just wondering if there is an alternative to gels and such that I could use instead for quick energy.

  • How do I stop and wait for traffic if my feet are locked in?

I'm a very beginner biker, for years I have been riding a standard mountain bike, but recently I got a road bike, because I plan on trying out some triathalons. I just got my bike a few days ago. I don't understand how you would be able to stop if your feet are locked to the pedals. Can someone explain?

P.S. I'm a very paranoid person when it comes to safety and traffic.

  • Care to critique my drawing?

I did this in about 30 minutes, using powder charcoal and a q-tip.

  • My ankles hurt really bad while running?

So, today I went for a run, and I just ran straight for an hour with minimal hills. I wasn't too fast, maybe 10 mph. What I noticed was that my ankles were hurting so bad, like There were knives in them or something. I didn't stop though. I am 14, if that makes a difference, and this is my second run in a year. I have very supported shoes. Any reasons as to why my ankles hurt, and any remedies?

  • Is it better to run in intervals or just nonstop?

Today, I ran about 5 miles, with a ten minute mile pace, however, I split it up. I ran for 10 minutes, walked for 4. I did that 3 times, then I would run for 5 minutes, walk for 4. Is this way less effective than just running straight?

By the way, this is my first time running in over 6 months, or doing any exercise for that matter, and I am 14 years old. I'm a girl, too, around 150 lb.

  • Do I have appendicitus?

This just started today, my family and I went out to dinner. On the car ride there, my stomach was hurting, like there were two stone sized areas of pain on each side. This went on throughout dinner until I stretched out my legs and kinda slouched so my body was in a straight line. My stomach was fine until I walked to our car, then the pain came back. It subsided on the way home, finaly disappearing. I got home, and when I layed down to bed, suddenly my stomach felt like somebody stabbed me, but only in one place, about an inch down from my belly button and an inch to the right. My stomach kinda made weird gurgling noises, too. It hurts to lay down but I can sit if I slouch. It also hurts to apply presure. i can't lay down with out pain. I went to sleep, woke up, and it was still hurting. I took some tylonal with water a few hours later, and felt kinda bloated, and the pain was still there. Now, a few hours after the tylonal, the pain is gone but I can still feel it, underneath the tylonal, and I can tell it is still there. I have not eaten anything since dinner.

I'm a 15 year old girl. I don't really get cramps and it isn't my "time of the month".

I am too scared to try a heating pad or eat because I am afraid my appendix will explode. Thanks.
