  • Suggestions to What Plants That Are Fast Growing & Tall?

I need some fast growing, tall plants I can use so I can screen off the end of my garden from my nosey neighbours! What can I buy that will give good screening, please? Or alternatively, what can I use to screen off that is not regarded as a "permanent structure" as we live in a long term rented house and are not allowed to have anything permanent, such as a taller fence etc. Any help appreciated, thanks

  • Aspergers Syndrome in Children - Symptoms?

I'd like to know what symptoms those of you who have a child with Aspergers display(ed) but not as a baby/toddler, from say 6 years old and upwards. What made you seek a diagnosis? Did it take some time to put all the symptoms together to then suspect something was wrong? And lastly, was it you who suspected or was it a family member or the school? Thanks :)

  • Vehicles like Berlingo, Daihatsu Move Etc - Any suggestions?

I'm looking for as many names of vehicles that have a taller than average height, such as Citroen Berlingo or a Daihatsu Move +. I just can't think of any others and I need a taller vehicle so I can hang clothing in the back - I run an ironing service but I also have 3 kids to ferry around so can't get a traditional van as carrying clothing plus 3 kids just doesn't work lol.

Any suggestions for other makes/types of cars would be greatly appreciated :)

  • Legal position regarding neighbour and landlord - help please?

To cut a v long story short, we moved into a housing association property 4 years ago. From about the 3rd day here our downstairs neighbour was a nightmare, you name it, he did it. Fast forward to about 3 months ago and he has been evicted, thanks to us giving evidence in court. Our lives were horrendous, affecting our 3 kids, loss of sleep etc.

The housing association were grateful, gave us gift vouchers and wine as a thank you for our help in getting him out. They promised that the next tenant to have the downstairs flat would be a "sensitive let" meaning they would only pick someone who would not create issues etc. Here comes our problem and the advice I'm seeking - they have let the flat to an 18 year old girl who has a drug problem!!!!

Within a week she is screaming up at us to shut our f***ing kids up. We reported her demented behaviour (there was more to it than just screaming and swearing) and she was spoken to and told to stop. Yesterday she did her usual of swearing and screaming up at us, directed at our 3 kids. Ironically our kids were on the second floor of our property and therefore nowhere near her place, playing monopoly for 3 hours and my hubby and I were doing housework. She then began punching walls inside her place, ran out into the garden and used the f word a dozen times at the top of her voice, ran to her front door and opened and slammed it 8 times.

The property we live in is poorly sound proofed but we raise our kids to be totally respectful of others, to not thump and run about inside the house, to remember that there is someone living downstairs and so on. We don't play music, we don't have anything at all that could be regarded as a noise nuisance. The kids are out at school all day, hubby at work and I'm self employed, all kids are in bed by 6.30pm.

I've been told today by the housing association that the tenant downstairs is on a "starter tenancy" which means that bad behaviour is logged in the first year and can lead to an eviction. I want to know two things - firstly, can the tenant be evicted within a short time frame (i.e within weeks as opposed to months) and can we sue the housing association, first because they admitted they knew our original neighbour was trouble and antisocial and didn't tell us when we moved here and secondly because they made it clear they would endeavour to put a suitable tenant in the flat below but have picked an 18 year old with a known drug habit?

I cannot stress how awful the last 4 years have been because of the original tenant and how we as a family have suffered and cannot bear the thought of another tenant doing the same. We are fortunate in that we are hoping to move in March but we still have to live here for another 10-12 weeks and the new family who move in here are also going to suffer so I want to do something if I can.

Any legal advice would be appreciated, mostly regarding how quickly the tenant can be evicted (why should she stay when she has breached terms of her tenancy at least 8 times since she moved in some few weeks ago) and do we as a family have any legal standing against the housing association? We are on an assured short hold tenancy. Oh and to top it off with the neighbour downstairs, she claims benefits as a single person and her man lives there permanently, leaving a heady aroma of dope wafting up to our flat. The police are not interested in the dope issue btw.

  • PS3 Accessories - What's available or worth having?

My son is lucky enough to be receiving a PS3 for Xmas from his Dad and I wanted to get him something to go with it, apart from games. What is there that's worth having for a PS3 and that a 12 year old can make use of? Many thanks.

  • Battlefield 3 - Any females been playing the online game?

Are there any females actually playing the online Battlefield 3 game? Just curious as when watching my husband on there it seems to me only ever male names come up - is it because females are not interested in the game or don't have time or rather be doing something else lol

  • Posting a video on YouTube without the star's permission?

I want to post a video on YouTube of our drunk neighbour. It's absolutely hilarious and for the most part you can't see him clearly, it was filmed at night and you can't see his face but you can hear his voice very well. Can I post it on YouTube without his permission? It was filmed in a public place but I don't want to be breaking any laws by posting it and since we're not exactly on friendly terms there's not going to be a case of asking his permission lol.

  • Where can I advertise my website so I can get feedback on it?

I want to promote a website my fiance and I have created and apart from using specialised forums on the subject it covers I want to get people to look at it to give us feedback on what's good and what's not about it. Where can I do this? I don't dare put any details of it on here for fear of being reported and besides, our site is probably not for everyone lol. It's a free site at the moment but will be charged after a month or two so how can we get feedback on it in a short space of time? Many thanks for suggestions.

  • Where can I find online lists for court hearings in a magistrate's court?

I've tried various sites but seem to only access lists for Crown Court or County Court, but I am looking for magistrate's listings in Guildford, Surrey. I'm looking for a case due to be heard, not one that's already taken place. Can anyone help please? I know I could telephone the court but I'd prefer to view detail online if possible. Many thanks.

  • Moral dilemma - would you report him?

Our neighbour is an alcoholic. We've lived here for 3 years and in that time have been woken more times than I care to remember with him kicking in his own front door, screaming, fighting, loud music...you get the picture. He is not allowed to approach us although he is never threatening, only ever apologetic about his behaviour once he's sober again.

Yesterday the council antisocial behaviour dept, our housing association landlord, alcohol abuse team and the police have all liaised with him and demoted his tenancy. This means that if he kicks off again he's going to court to attempt eviction from his property that he rents from the HA.

My dilemma is this - last night, about 4 hours after his visit from all those people he came up to our place drunk, knocking on the door. He apologised as per normal and was obviously very upset. My partner is intolerant of this man and said "fine" and then shut our door. After that our neighbour went downstairs to his own place and then started shouting (at nobody lol) and ranting for about half an hour. I've been told by the HA to report anything that he breaches but I'm torn on this one, despite the fact he's caused a huge amount of upset and distress to us and our kids over the years, but he's obviously upset and realises he stands a strong chance of losing his home. Do I report him for coming up to our place and the ranting afterwards or do I leave it and accept that he was particularly upset since he'd had the news he was in trouble if he carried on? What happened last night was very minor compared to his usual antics but it's still a breach.

  • Step Mums - Can you honestly say you treat your stepkids the same as....?

your own children? If you don't, why is this? And if you do, did you find it difficult to do so? Lastly, if you do treat them differently to your own, is it a major difference?

  • Babies/Toddlers at school events - Do you think they should or shouldn't attend?

I've just been to my son's school assembly and yet again there was the usual group of toddlers/babies screaming and whining over the top of the kids talking in their assembly display. I understand that if you're a single Mum/Dad and have a baby as well as a kid in the assembly you're going to find it difficult but why can't the parent arrange with either someone else to have the baby or perhaps share childcare with another Mum so each of you sees half the assembly or something similar? I fully understand how difficult it is to juggle everything but I'm a MUm of one and step mum of two plus self employed - if I can manage it.....What do other people think? Should the disruptive youngsters be allowed to attend and ruin it for others (mostly for the kids who've worked hard to learn their lines etc) or should they be kept away?

  • What is the likelihood of a person getting a suspended sentence for....?

What is the likelihood of a person getting a suspended sentence for GBH with intent? Actual offence was driving a distance to the victim's home, stabbing them twice in the back then getting back into the car and going home again? There are other offences also relating to the same incident but this is the most serious. The person who committed the act is pleading guilty, there is an independent witness also, and the person who was stabbed was not seriously injured though did require hospital treatment. The perpetrator has no previous record, is doing all their solicitor is telling them to i.e. seeking help for alcohol addiction, found a job etc, plus the perpetrator is going to use mitigating circumstances of losing custody of their kids 3 days prior to the offences committed. Of note the person who was stabbed is NOT the person who got custody of the kids and also the perpatrator has a very long history of alchol abuse. This person is in the UK. Thank you for any suggestions.

  • Reason for moving a case from magistrate to crown court (U.K)?

Can anyone please tell me why a case would be moved from a scheduled hearing at a magistrate's court to a crown court instead? The offence (or the most serious of several charges) is GBH with intent - stabbing somebody twice in the back, premeditated but victim not seriously injured. Many thanks

  • If you were out of work and a job you hated was offered to you, would you take it?

I'm interested to know how many people would put aside their dislike of a certain job and take it on regardless because they were out of work or would you ignore that offer and wait for something else to hopefully turn up? Personally my fiance and I would accept any legitimate job if we were out of work, but would carry on looking for work we actually were qualified/wanted to do in the meantime.
