I'm in Alaska, so ski a lot at night.
1 AnswerSnow Skiing4 years agoHow to do a flashback without copying previous chapters from another book?
I have an idea for a related book that originates from a chapter in the current book. I want to include those scenes as a flashback but not sure how. They would become the second and third chapters in the new book if I included them. Should I just not worry about them being the same and copy them or should I try to change them? It would be a monster rewrite to do and still have them similar in both books.
4 AnswersBooks & Authors4 years agoWhy do people keep saying I'm strong?
I'm a 41 year old overweight woman. Sometimes, I lift weights at my gym. Last time I was doing 3 sets of 12 reps using 20-40 pounds depending on the exercise. Most of the other women in my gym are using less than 10 pounds. I don't understand why many people comment that I'm strong. They could do it too if they were more serious about it instead of just playing with the weights. I'm not doing it for compliments, just working out doing my own thing with the guys in the weight area. The only other women who lift like me are body builders or figure competitors.
4 AnswersDiet & Fitness5 years agoI have some questions about PCS orders.?
I'm writing a story set on a military base. Some of the characters are active duty. Others are civilian contractors. For the active duty characters:
1. How long ahead of when they are scheduled to leave will they get their orders?
2. Who else knows about their orders like their supervisor and base commander? When do they know?

Or are they just different terms meaning the same thing, a place for airplane to take off and land?

3 AnswersDiet & Fitness5 years agoIs Hercules a copyrighted character or can I use it as a nickname for one of my superheroes?
It's for a story I'm writing set in modern times.
I already asked this but got conflicting answers.
Trademark law is different from copyright laws. I'm specifically asking about copyright laws and fictional stories.
5 AnswersBooks & Authors5 years agoCan I reference popular fictional characters in my story?
I'm writing a superhero story and want to have one reference to Superman when my hero gains his powers. The line is, "Tell him you turned into Superman."

2 AnswersHome Schooling5 years agoWhen to start training again after having the flu?
My family and I came down with the flu Thursday night. Feeling better today. No more fevers and only an occasional cough. I'm restless from sitting still and lying around so long but don't want to get worse by exercising too soon. What to do?
1 AnswerDiet & Fitness5 years agoHow many calories/hr does rollerskiing burn?
Yes, rollerSKI, not rollerblade or rollerskate. Rollerskiing is a training method for off-season cross country skiers. I may have an opportunity to get some.
3 AnswersDiet & Fitness5 years agoI've lost 4 pounds this week from the flu. How to keep if off once I'm well again?
I've lost my appatite because of being sick. My husband brought fast food for dinners but I still lost 4 pounds. I'm overweight and losing those 4 pounds put me at the top of healthy weight for my height. So how can I avoid gaining them back?
4 AnswersDiet & Fitness5 years agoDid you have a long wait for orders from Sonlight?
We ordered a month ago and still nothing yet. Last time they didn't arrive until October and even then it wasn't everything. Have any of you had long waits for your Sonlight orders? I know it's the beginning of school year and they are busy, but the other companies have already arrived and they were all ordered at the same time.
2 AnswersHome Schooling5 years agoDo you run when it's raining?
We're supposed to have 4 days of heavy rain starting today. I'm new to running but already starting to make progress so don't want to take a break but don't relish the thought of getting soaked either just to run a few miles. What would you do?
7 AnswersRunning5 years agoWhy does my body do better when I run?
I know it's exercise, but I'm not running very far or fast. However, it seems to help my bowels stay regular and give more energy the next day. Nothing else is different. My diet is still the same, but my weight usually goes down more steadily on weeks that I run. I do not react this way with other exercise of the same intensity level.
2 AnswersRunning5 years agoWhat to do with 2 bags of white rice?
Someone gave us a box of food today. It's mostly healthy stuff like raisins and salmon. However, there was also 2 small bags of white rice. We do not eat white rice. What should I do with them?
12 AnswersDiet & Fitness5 years agoWhy are Apologia science books so popular with homeschoolers?
My kids have the Apologia General Science and Biology and they are terrible! They are not written in a traditional textbook style, but rather more as a conversational style. That may make it harder for kids when they get to college and have to use real textbooks for science. Plus, the writing is dull with few illustrations or diagrams to expand on the text. In some of the books his facts are outright wrong (no I'm not referring to the creation/evolution debate, but rather some of the actual science.)
