  • Trouble opening some websites, I am using BSNL Broadband?

Would appreciate help from techie's only.

I am located in India, Maharashtra and using BSNL Broadband Internet. The Modem has been supplied by the provider and its company & Model is - Sterlite - Sam 100. The Internet connection / plan is unlimited plan and it gives a download speed of 70-80 Kilobytes per second (checked on utorrent). Tried checking if "Sterlite" website has any new version of firmware for my modem but its not there.

Now here is the problem, when I attempt to open websites like Linkedin, Hotornot, billdesk (online bill payments), bank websites (these sites actually work, but very slow), bookmyshow.com the websites don't open at all. Its been there for quite a long time, one fine day I tried these websites from kproxy.com (proxy website) and they worked!!! So then I checked if the modem has any places where website's could be blocked or something (my firewall is always off and i have avira antivirus which doesn't have any online protection) but there no such option in the modem's configuration. I tried several tutorials which are available on google / techhelp websites but nothing worked. From you guys I want to know if I am missing something or these sites are blocked by the DNS for which I would need to contact the provider.

I am sure the problem will be resolved here so Thanks to all of you who attempted to help me.
