  • Rise in fascism in wake of Paris attacks?

Does anyone else feel that the ISIS attacks have radicalized more people towards a fascist ideolgy. This is grave concern for me since Islamophobia seems to be taking on the same features that antisemitism did in the lead up to WW2. I am starting to see an increasingly agressive tone on both the left and right.

  • Athiesm vs Femism?

Why is there animosity between these two groups? I am in support of both. I can't understand how atheist and feminist principles conflict.

  • Singled out by client?

I have just been told that my employer now needs to babysit me as I work. I am a qualified technical analyst who has several years of experience.

I cannot find any reason for this client's apparent lack of trust.

I have performed my tasks just as well as my colleagues. I have actually gone beyond the call of duty. On several occasions I put in several extra hours to fix the problems put in place by the client themselves.

But for some reason they think I'm incompetent. It an entirely baseless and damaging assumption, when (as stated above) I have performed no worse than my colleagues.

    Why are they doing this?

What can I do about it?

  • war on science and reason?

I have no problems with people having religious beliefs, however I am starting to get annoyed at the apparent war on science and reason by some really invested individuals. Whats worse is that the arguements are increadibly poorly researched, are fallacious at best or outright lies at their worst.

I get the feeling these arguments are just a way for them to feel more comfortable in thier entirely contrived worldview, rather than convincing anyone of thier validity.

If you have to lie to support your position then it safe to assume it is on very shaky ground.

  • Pedestrians not paying attention?

Yes this is a pet peeve of mine. I take extreme car when driving. however I am constantly seeing more pedestrians who don't look where they are going.

I could forgive an honest mistake however these people seem to think they have done nothing wrong. like they didn't need to look where they were going. As soon you honk your horn you get 2 fingers for your trouble.

why? why don't people look when they cross the road? and why get mad at me for slamming on my brakes to avoid you or honking my horn to warn you that I'm driving 1 and a half tons of metal that nearly collided with you.

  • literal definitions not matching common usage?

for instance the phrase "head over heels" This is the position that most people are in where your head is literally above your heels.

there are numerous examples, but I have always wondered why something that is incorrect enters common usage

  • Car Insurance quotes madness--------?

I am 26 and looking to buy a car.

I am a new driver who has only just passed my test.

Can I get a reasonable insurance quote?

    and if so where?

I personally hate the idea of handing over £1000+ to a company who in all honesty will sell on my details to a multitude of companies, and not pay-out anyway.

i am getting really annoyed by qoutes of £1000, £2000 and in one case £4000 for an £800 1.2L hatchback.

I know it is wrong to be thinking this, but is looks cheaper to be an uninsured driver. as I will only have to pay a £300 fine if caught.

  • Workfare Labour Legality?

Is the Workfare scheme of placing unemployed individuals on 4 weeks of unpaid work under the threat of losing their JSA legal under UK and European law?

If so could criminal charges be pressed against the companies who profit from workfare and the government themselves.

  • People with Asberger's syndrome?

I want to ask other people with Asbergers how they feel about it.

I am ok with Asbergers but I see a lot of people get worried about it, or what others think about them. I want to gauge how others feel about having asbergers

    How does it affect you?

Do you feel the same about social etiquete as I do? (that it mostly gets in the way)

Do you feel like you can participate in life fully? If not why not?

  • serious difficulty finding an IT job?

I really want to have a career in IT.

I had manage to get 2 one month contracts, but I was left hanging due to "financial" issues

I have studied off my own back for a year, I have volunteered for 200 hours and even been a paid technician for 300 hours. I have been recently studying for MCITP server administrator, and I feel I have learned a great deal.

I'm not just expecting a permanent job, I have studied without any help to become competent as there is no training, no apprenticships or any help at-all for anyone over 24 years old

there are no jobs in my area at all, so I applied out of my area and offered to relocate,

despite 50+ applications, I have only had 1 interview.

is there something I'm not doing right?

should I think about going self employed?

is there another way to get an employer's attention?

  • Career Question-------------?

    I currently have 2 jobs.

I work 17 hours a week as a Bakery Assistant in Morrison's at £6.41 p/h and 20 hours a week as an IT technician at a school for £9.21 p/h

I would like to quit Morison's and work full time at the school. The hours are available to do so.

there is a catch though. I am on a 1 month contact (school) that that is being renewed each time.

I hate the morrison's job but have kept it going as it is a permanent contract.

    what should I do?

why are there soo many lately.

I have heard everything from Freemasons taking over the world to the world ending in 2012.

IMHO none have any evidence to support them, so why are there so many?
