  • Remember that home built car competition that they made into a tv show in the early 2000s?

It had a bunch of teams from different countries around the world, each build a car by hand and compete in different events. One event was bowling, where your car is the ball. The final event was a swamp race.

The American team came in 2nd, and the winner was from somewhere in South America, with a tiny car that looked like a wedge made out of scraps.

It was not a popular TV show, and not really very good, but it actually had some really cool cars in it.

    What was that called?

  • The East is better than the West?

Over all the eastern conference has a winning record against the west.

I think we're far enough into the season that t's not too early to say it anymore.

  • If Kobe gets his 6th ring?

Every idiot knows that would be final proof Kobe is better than MJ and it would secure his place as the #1 GOAT for the rest of basetball history.

Of course every smart person knows that those idiots are wrong.

But what if Kobe doesn't get his 6th ring? What would that mean?

  • What do you think about Shaq and Chuck's critique of the Lakers?

Chuck - Here's another terrible shot and I don't care that it went in, that makes it even worse...

Shaq - It gets the entire rest of the team out of rythem.

Chuck - It's even worse because then you'll keep on doing it more...and here he does at again...and again, what the hell was that?

Kenny - well the Lakers were down by 3 at that point...

    Chuck - I don't care that's still a terrible shot.

Shaq - When the Lakers go inside to the big men, they win, when they go away from them, they lose.

Chuck - The advantage the Lakers have is their size

So was that good expert analysis, or just a couple of haters, hating on Kobe?

  • If you rode in an elevator at the same time as Kobe Bryant?

I was checking into my hotel room when I saw some black guy and an old spanish woman walking up to the enterence. For a second I thought he kind of looked like...Nah, couldn't be.

    But it was.

Turns out, I had arived at my hotel at the same time as the Lakers.

When I got in the elevator a couple of guys rode with me. They were HUGE black guys and an old spanish woman who was with Kobe (no idea who she was). One guy was Kobe and I assume the others were Lakers but I can't pinpoint who they were.

I was nervous, but I turned to Kobe and I said "so did you win tonight?"

    And he said "nah."

That was our conversation. But honestly, if you were Kobe, how much would you really want to say to some guy in an elevator?

Later on I checked on line and found out he actually had won. This one is much more exciting than my Larry Bird story.

    What would you have said?

  • coal powerd electric car vs gas car?

It seams like everyone has an opinion on this. I know a few of you have already done this research.

Can anyone point me to a peer reviewed scientific investigation on the pollution from a purely coal powered ev vs a gasoline car?

    2nd quarter:

    highlight 2: Kobe

    highlight 3: Kobe

    3rd quarter:

highlight 2: sixers - followed by laughter (lucky shot)

    highlight 3: sixers

I get the impression from that video that the Lakers should have won by about 30 points and Kobe scored about 55.

  • how fast can you safely go on a bicycle?

I'm building an EV, with a 28 peak horsepower motor (mars ME0709), into a bicycle.

I'm keeping the bikes rear cassette. In the lowest gear it should cruise easily at 40 mph. In the highest gear it should be capable of 75 mph, or even 150 mph if I keep all the front sprockets too (that's theoretical, assuming you can get there without the motor burning up or something else getting shredded to bits).

I'm going to have to be careful not to rip up the chain, sprockets, wheel and tire with the monstrous torque, and the bike does have a front disk break, which it needs for the ludicrous speed and the extra weight.

But how fast can you go before it's unsafe on a bicycle? What's the fastest you've ever gone? Did it feel safe?

  • Global warming, evolution and the beings that created the face on mars.?

All three are concepts that are not immediately obvious to see. Why is it that those most likely to deny the first two, are most likely to accept the 3rd?

  • Do I have the facts straight about AGW?

The earth is getting warmer because of the sun's activity. It's warmer because of volcanoes. It's just part of the natural cycle. It's actually not getting warmer, it's getting cooler. The climate is not changing at all. It's all a government scam to control us. It's a religion. Science is all fake and the activities of man can't have any affect on something as big as the earth.

  • Do I speak for most christian Conservatives when I say?

I don't want to see the evidence, I won't look at the facts, and things like logic and reason just confuse me. All I have is my faith.

  • why do so many people "believe" in global warming?

There are only 7 billion of us. I think it’s incredibly pompous of us to think we can have any affect on something as big as the atmosphere. And then to further assume that (dubious) “change,” can have any affect on the global climate?

I’ve never seen anything in the bible about global warming. But I do see lots of things about the haughtiness of people to think that they are more powerful then the earth.

  • science and the word of god?

God gave us tools that we can use of look at his creation. he created logic and reason, which we used to discover math, physics and chemistry, all gifts from god.

It is my view that what we find are messages directly from god. god telling us, 'this is who you are, this is where you come from.' 'Here are all these wonderful tools that you can use to make stuff, and build on your knowledge (technology).

How can we deny all that for some book that was written by that hand of man?
