My corn snake is 4 months old, I feed him on pinkies and I'm not sure when I have to stop giving him pinkies and the next size mouse, is there a specific age or do I just have to see when he's bigger enough and looks ready?

I've just got a corn snake and when I go to handle him he strikes for me, should I just go right in and gently grab him so he gets used to me? he is only 3 months old and I understand he could be quite scared right now.
