Why don't we build windmills, solar panels and water wheels everywhere instead of paying electricity?

Nobody likes paying bills, so why can't I just build a water wheel on my roof for when it's raining, and a windmill on top of that, and just to top it all off, shade the entire thing with solar panels to save power? Pretty sure nobody has patented this behemoth of electric goodies, and with the right amount, could easily power my house, apartment or wherever I choose to live. Is there a law against a free market of electricity, or is it simply not enough to power a house? And why stop at roofs when you can decorate your lawn with those bad boys and charge your house for months with one stormy day!

Why did we quit producing nuclear energy if it's clean energy that is abundant enough to power everything?!?

I doubt we'd be having what's going on in Texas if nuclear energy were still being produced

Where is the global warming?  Houston hasn't been this cold in 122 years.  Thank God for natural gas and a wood burning fire place. ?

Green energy wind turbines are all frozen.  Joe Biden needs to rethink what he is doing.  We've been told to conserve water, but now we are being told to conserve energy.  I want to keep my oil and gas, please.

Why are some people such idiots?

My neighbors recently put on solar panels on their roof before the winter. And know there is over 15 inches of snow on the ground and roofs are filled with snow. So know these solar panel repair guys keep coming to fix it and it's so annoying because they have to be in my backyard to work on the dumb neighbors solar panels. Why are some people such idiots?

How to deal with environmental anxiety?

Basically global warming, negative impacts of non sustainable practices stress me out, even more at the moment. I’d say I could call myself a sustainable person, I shop at bulk stores where possible, I don’t eat meat, I always try to reduce waste, anything that has either a reusable, zero waste, environmentally friendly replacement I have it and it’s just stressing me out that there’s actually people out there that don’t care about the impact their actions have, I’m starting to struggle with managing  the stress it’s causing so wondered if anyone else has found themselves in a similar situation and how they handle it

What to do with food scraps? ?

Does anyone have any tips for what to do with food scraps? Unfortunately there are no organic waste drop off sites in my area, and I live in an apartment building so no yard to compost in. I feel really bad throwing away so much food (usually fruit & vegetable skins, stalks, edges, etc)

Do plant nursery's take them? or maybe local farms? Any advice or tips would be appreciated!

Why are rural Americans against solar and wind energy?

    Favourite answer:

More outreach and education is needed. The global warming message can’t sound elitist, out of range and in another world. Ways need to found to explain to rural Americans how the climate change is effecting them personally. Big oil could be held accountable for its anti climate propaganda and agenda. They buy legislators to push their agenda. They influence public opinion.

    Power Station?

What do you think would be better for a city’s next power station? The first one is the installation of a natural gas power station. The second one is for the installation of a solar panel power station. Which would be the best for the people living in the city as well as the city’s environment?

HOW TO LEAVE SOCIETY, GET OFF THE GRID, AND START MY OWN NEW REALITY?

im headed to my new home in Big Island, Hawaii next week. hawaii is so beautiful and peaceful that it persuaded me to move. i thought long and hard about making this move. i got less than $1000 and 2 suitcases. im confident everything will work fine as i settle into my new home.

once i get to the island ill work on a farm for 3 months in exchange for food and a place to sleep. i have the possibilty to extend it longer. this exchange is "wwoofing". i just need tipd on how to make it after that.

i was thinking of moving to an eco village/community. im not sold on doing it yet.

IDK if all eco communites make you share the same room with others. if community living is a very cramped environment i may need to rethink that. i prefer a little more space and freedom, but still having a since of community and assistance in the town/area, where living is low priced or cost free.

do they have this in hawaii?

i dont wanna go back to the system working a matrix job all day. my goal is to get off grid and live remotely. if i have no choice and must make money, maybe i could do a more low key job like farming in a local village.

if you know a thing or 2 about eco/sustainable living, gladly pitch some tips to give me more clarity.

and if you know about how to homestead/sustain,. let me know

my end goal is to have my own plot of land. it dont have to be

HOW TO LEAVE SOCIETY AND GO OFF THE GRID?

ever asked yaself why society is set up this way

or why we have a system at all

i think unconventionally compared to the average human being. how i think is actually normal. societys structure has made the abnormal, normal. why do we use paper money as a form of sustaining? all of our needs on earth like food, water, etc, has already freely been provided by the creator.. we're the only species that make life hard. paying to live is an illusion. money is an illusion. it screws you up mentally and situationally if you arent ahead of this rat race. now i wanna leave the rat race.

chasing man made paper money keeps you trapped. the governmental set up wants that. but youll never see an elephant, for example, having going to work everyday in order to have his food or shelter. so why should i? im the same as any other animal. all im saying is that i wanna be free...

living in a remote area. somewhere in hawaii maybe. on a farm.

i wanna live in an ecofriendly environment. in more nature.

can you share some tips to live off the grid successfully? ive had loose ideas but nothing set in sto ne.
