get a wireles 802.11g router, then get one wireless card per each computer you want to get hooked up to the internet,

the reason for a wireles router??

if you buy wired router, you will only be able to connect 4 computers, and only in that room, not in the second flor, or youll need tons of network cable, and with the wireles you can freely have computers anywhere in the house, and if a friend comes with a laptop, he can connect immediately wireless :)

A router is not $200. You can get them at Walmart for less than $100. Non wireless is $30. Check out Best Buy or Circuit City also. Those places can hook you up with everything you need.

There are certainly 2 techniques, you ought to use yet another card on your laptop and "daisy chain" yet then the two desktops must be on. determination 2, the final is get an basic 4 port router, except you certainly want on the spot, get the person-friendly style with 4 Ethernet ports, you hook IT to the comcast modem and then plug in as much as 4 machines, the routers might desire to look after each little thing else, at maximum there's a pair settings yet comcast will walk you thru it if mandatory. reliable success

You need a router so you can hook up both to the one line. Or, get a wireless one.
