Importing a PS3?

I want to buy a PS3 when I visit the US next week.

Are they going to give me a hard time bringing it back into the country?

What is the valuue limit of goods you can import without declaring?

THEY'LL LET YOU BRING IT BACK, BUT BE AWARE IT WILL BE INFERIER TO THE UK PS3, IT WONT HAVE ALL THE SPEC OF THE UK VERSION, THEREFORE MAY NOT PLAY ALL THE GAMES.

Sony has announced that the Euro version of the PS3 is going to be less compatible with old PS2 games compared with the US and Japanese versions. If that's an issue, importing one from the US or Japan is a good idea. Software will take over some of the functionality that was originally taken care of by dedicated chips (in US & Japan ver), which means far fewer PlayStation 2 games can be played on a European PS3 compared with the Japanese and American PS3 models that play 98 percent of old games.

Treat it as a personal computer (it is!) and you should not need to pay tax on it.

I am think of doing the same when I go back to Canada next. Why not, they are a hell of a lot cheaper in NA and the games are almost half the price. Just pick up the games from there when you are back if the ones from here don't work. As long as you have a voltage converter and a newer tv that supports ntsc. Even if you had to pay a bit of duty on it i'm sure it would still be a lot cheaper.
