Why on Earth is it that .....?

Question

When somebody is involved in a major accident and walk away unscathed that people say that they are "lucky". Surely if they were lucky they would be at least 17 miles away and not involved in the accident in the first place.

They are definetely not lucky, and if they were in that accident, they wouldn't think so either. They just think because you didn't die, you're lucky. That's the way humans think for some reason, I have no idea why. They think that if you are not hurt, you're OK, but people are scarred in accidents. Just because you are hurt physically doesn't mean you're not hurt mentally.

yes i agree. its not lucky to be in an accident but it is lucky to come out unscathed ....

true, but they where lucky enough not to get hurt and be able to walk away unscathed. they should still be thankful that God spared their life :o)

If you're beaten up and not killed, people would say that you were lucky. You wont feel like it but comparing it to death, you are lucky.

because they didnt die after seeing the car that now looks like a smashed coke can. and maybe the ones that say that was not at fault.
