broken handle?

We have a 99 Dodge Durango its in excellant shape and we just bought it had it for now 2wks. Anyhow the handle to adjust your seat up and down to comfort levels completely broke off as my hubby tried to pull it to get it to lend forward to place a carseat in the back. (its the passenger side seat and handle is plastic basically)

my question is ..... is there a re-placement handle i can buy if so where? do i have to replace the whole seat? or is there a temporary or premanent fix anyone knows of?

thanx

Update:

omg ty ty it still has plastic on it like only half of it i used a wrench to turn it to get it to go back into seating postion i can pay 25.00 for it LOL better then buying a whole new 200.00 seat LOL

thanx soo much:)

You can purchase a replacement handle from Dodge, expect to pay $15 - $25 for it. The catch comes in how the handle broke off, if it left plastic inside (covering the notched gear that actually controls the seat angle) you'll have to remove it prior to installing a new lever.

If it broke like this you'll also want to consider why. There are 2 ways for a seat lever to fail...snap off at the base (leaving some plastic on the gear) or to simply bore out on the inside...the lever no longer grips the release gear properly.

When you replace it do you best to lubricate the seat back supports, should keep it from breaking again in the future!

    Hope this helps.
