So Phil & Kirsty agree that Edinburgh is the best place to live?

Woohoo! Living in Edinburgh, I'm chuffed!

How did your town fare in their list of 20 best/worst? Do you agree?

Are you glad the top place has not gone to somewhere in the South East of England? They seemed to be disproportionately represented...

Update:

Oh yeah.. Sophie was hot...

Apparently i live in THE worst place in the UK, what a complete load of rubbish.

Let me first say i'm not from Middlesbrough as such, (only been here for a few yrs) and so i have absolutely no bias or feeling that i must stand up for it.

However, i've travelled the UK extensively, working away from home for years and spent a month (or longer) in just about every major city in the UK and it's not even close to some places i've been to.

Yes Middlesbrough has good and bad areas such as anywhere else so let me compare it to somewhere i know really well, the large city of Sheffield.

I love Sheffield, the place of my birth, the place where i've spent most of my life and i believe it to be one of the top 3 places to live in the UK. (taking into account nightlife, entertainment, access to countryside, etc, etc)

In comparison, the areas of Middlesbrough are no where near as nice as the good areas of Sheffield, BUT the bad areas of Middlesbrough are no where near the bad areas of Sheffield. (or most other large cities)

Middlesbrough is a town, the 'rough' areas are really quite small and no where near anthing like what you'd find in Liverpool, or Leeds, or Manchester, or Birmingham, or London and yes, even Edinburgh.

I live in Middlesbrough through choice, i have a farm 100yrds away, the countryside 2 minutes away, the beaches of Saltburn/Redcar (with it's surfing) only 10 minutes away, Whitby 25 minutes away, etc.

Is Middlesbrough THE worst place to live in the UK? Absolutely no way, maybe towards the bottom half but no where near the very bottom.

I can only conclude this poll is seriously flawed, and based on a small criteria that doesn't take into account so many other factors.

The majority of people who live in and around Middlesbrough stay within that area, they don't move away like many other places so that's shows we are happy to live here.

Enjoy your Edinburgh being at the top, but when they got it so wrong i wouldn't put too much into it.

Hi, I've never moved to a new city before, so I have no idea how it would feel, but I moved to Edinburgh with my boyfriend nearly 5 years ago (but not from very far away!) I like living here, but the questions you ask are quite hard to answer!! Friends - well, Edinburgh's got lots of communities in it, but you have to be prepared to get out there and make friends. Where should you go? Well, it depends on what you like. Newington is the best place if you are studying - the old town is quite studenty, and the New Town is more suited for professionals or some better-off student types. George Street is the main cocktail/club street with more upmarket bars etc and again the Old Town has some more 'atmospheric' and often themed bars/pubs. As for job opportunities, if you are intelligent, reasonably well educated and prepared to work hard then there are always opportunities. I hope this helps, but feel free to contact me if you want any more help - i'll do my best! Good luck!!

Not surprised Edinburgh scored high, it's a beautiful place. Surprised Stirling wasn't right up there too. It's historic, has beautiful buildings, set right on the edge of the Trossachs with some outstanding scenery nearby, shops, culture, activities. Also thought Cheltenham and York should have scored much higher.

I would agree. Never lived in Edinburgh or Scotland for that matter but it is my favourite place to visit whenever I get the chance and I'd love to retire there!

To be honest, I was more amazed at how much I fancied a bit of Kirstys sister ........ shes hotter than Kirsty and just as posh. The perfect combination!
