Scotland now ranked only 2 places below England?

I think only a couple more places and all the English guys who laughed when I said I'd wave when we passed them in the rankings will be getting phonecalls.

On the face of it, Scotland's qualifying campaign has earned them the right to be there. The results have been amazing, right up until the last game against Georgia which was a bit of a balls up.

However, we are still in a position to qualify if we beat Italy, or if we draw and Ukraine take a point against France. This is an outstanding result, and even if we don't qualify we'll still have done better than anyone expected and certainly better than England, who couldn't qualify out of their group which, unlike Scotland's, was not dubbed 'The Group of Death.' On results prior to the current qualifying, Scotland would have been fighting with Georgia for fourth spot and long since out of contention for qualifying.

Remember, if we go through, that means we'll have knocked out one of the World Cup finalists. Who have England played again?

Our rise to 13th is nothing short of miraculous, and long may it continue.

England are reaping the rewards of sticking with players that have not performed as they should have and also losing to Russia, saw Russia leap 10 places.

England are going to continue the downward slide, as I really do not see them beating Croatia.

Scotland have a chance to leapfrog England for the first time since the rankings came into existence IF we beat Italy.

I would like to thank the SFA the boards of both Falkirk and St Mirren for suspending their fixtures against the Old Firm, so that we have a better chance against the Italians.

In fact suspend the whole week's calendar and the nation have one massive build up party with our Italian cousins, culminating in a 3-1 victory to the Scots at a Hampden stadium that will be rocking the free world.

it just goes to show how crap the england team has performed over a number of years, and that scotland have turned it around not only the scottish national team, but celtic and rangers have had some fantastic results, if only the english team played with passion like the scots teams we might be alot better, instead of soft overpaid pampered celebrity nancy boys that most of them are, half of them are more interested in going shopping for the latest plasma telly or new car, im english and this is how i feel.

If you take into account the fact that we were a laughing stock under Herr Vogts , I think that we as a nation ,should be very ,very proud of what our lads have accomplished in a very short space of time.

If we continue in the same vein,and England do the same in the opposite direction then ,it's only a matter of time before we overtake themand that should shut them up.

And I say that as an England fan. England have too many over-hyped celebrities. Scotland have players with grit and determination.

they have just had some good luck and we've just had a bad manager. I try not to look at the FIFA Rankings because the majority of people at FIFA are England haters, like at the world cup they threatened to throws us out the competition for hooliganism......every one knows there were about 10 teams in the competition who have a worse record for hooliganism than us and they didn't even get warned.

Uruguay should be fourth and england should be around 8th and argentina should be higher up than italy and croatia

To be honest, I agree with that.

At the moment, England are not playing much better than Scotland.

If they played each other, I am sure it would be a very even game.

Should be 2 places above if you ask me. If it's based somewhat on the Euro 2008 qualifiers then Scotland have done far better.
