In terms of live shows the top 5 are probably Radiohead: Muse: Hold Steady: the Cribs and Wedding Present. Going to see the Rolling Stones these days is the very definition of pointless....

Pet Shop Boys. An underrated band unfairly labelled as a gay band and associated forever with West End Girls. They're still touring 20 years later and they've got lots of great new music.

Manic Street Preachers. Still got the raw energy that drew me to the band in the early 90's

    Police

MUSE are the best live band on the planet... bar none.

Anyone who has ever been to one of their shows will attest to that.

I saw them at Fuji Rock and they arrived late for their set for reasons beyond their control and took to the stage and played despite no sound checks or any preparation... but despite this they still pulled of the best set of the weekend, and that is some achievement considering they were followed by The Cure.

    MUSE!!!

u2,still writing great songs and producing strong albums,as well as being a great live act.

The Stones probably would come second, but they rely heavily on fame from old recordings, and I'm afraid their vocals are not to hot now days.
