Bullfighting, I don't like it but I saw one in Pamplona in 1982. But, who are all the others in the ring?

apart from the matador, and what is their purpose?

I find bullfighting offensive and ask purely out of curiosity

The others begin with the Matador's cuadrilla(or team) they comprise normally, a confidante, generally a senior bandillero who might advise the Matador, since many are very young. In addition in his team he may have two more bandilleros who place the "darts"/banderillas. There are normally two picadors who's responsibilty is to "pic" the hump of muscle on the bull's back, to lower his head, otherwise he would have to be about ten feet tall to reach the killing area. The horses are normally led in by monosabios who hold the reins of the horse. In addition, there are people who don't have any real involvement, e.g the gatekeepers who open up the gate to let the bull in the ring, the aguaceles (not sure about that spelling) who formally ask the President for permission to start the proceedings and the guys who dispose of the bull at the end of each proceeding (normally six)

Understand your dislike but I would only say that they don't need a NSPCC in Spain!
