Great-Grandfather born in the 1700s, anyone?

Is there anyone else out there with a Great-Grandfather born in the 1700s? I was born in 1947, Mother in 1913, Grandfather in 1847, Great-Grandfather in 1797. (Just made it!).

Geeze. That's amazing. And I thought my family was full of late-bloomers. I've got some strange things jumping around the family tree, but not that one.

I wish genealogical programs could have "weird statistics" as a menu item...

Happy hunting. At least you have less people to document for a given time period...

    I was born in 1969.

    Mom in 1945.

Her mother in 1919 and her father in 1918

    Her mother's parents in 1887 and 1890

    Her father's parents in 1883 and 1886

    My dad born in 1942

His mother in 1917 (his father's side of the family is unknown).

    His mother's parents in 1893 and 1895

I have to go back to my 4th great-grandparents on both sides before I start to find anyone born in the 1700's.

Everyone alive today would have had a great grandparent (how many greats would vary) born in the 1700s unless they were hatched from an egg.

  • Okey dokey, I was born in 1943, my Mom in 1901, her Mom in 1860. On my Dad's side, that far back, an ancestor was born BEFORE the Revolutionary War and died AFTER the Civil War. (His brother was born DURING the Revolutionary War, cannot find out when or where he died.)

    Ain't it great???

Yes, I have huge generations on my mom's side. I am 1949; mother 1909, her father in 1840s, and I don't have his parents identified. My mother was the youngest child of his 2nd marriage, and he died when she was less than 2 yrs old.

Helps to know that you can't make assumptions on anything in research.
