Hi there Tim! I have given you some links to the barrios of choice. Go to Palermo or Recoleta!
You have dockland's Puerto Madero, upscale modern apartment towers, much like London or New York, not my favourite:

Trendy Palermo, Viejo, Soho and Hollywood, my favourites-really great for partying and shopping:

Buenos Aires is an amazing city; it's an astonishing metropolis that looks a little like Europe, but having an edgy Latin American pose and if you wish to visit that town then take a peek with hotelbye . El Puerto Madero is a place effectively visited. It served as the key interface of Buenos Aires through the late 19th century but know is converted into houses that would be applied as residences, restaurants, stores and different businesses and to provide that challenge a little bit of flair, all roads in the region were named after women. Strolling through the Puerto Madero is a great way to pay a pleasing morning the same as visiting El Obelisco. El Obelisco was integrated 1936 to honor the 400th wedding of the town founding and now is a must-see place from Buenos Aires.

Capital Federal is the Part of Buenos Aires where you can stay. Each Barrios has it's history. If you like to feel as a Tourist, you can stay in San Telmo, Palermo or Recoleta . If you want to feel the Argentinean Spirit you can stay in Caballito , Belgrano , Almagro, Villa Crespo, Chacarita.
Personally I like Caballito Very Much. I bought a house in Recoleta but 1 year later I sold and I bought in Caballito...cause I like the True Argentinean Life and I like to pay like Argentineans...and I don't like to feel like a tourist ....Even if I am... :o)
