What is your idea of holiday bliss?

For me it's shutting the front door and NOT speaking to, seeing anyone and venturing outside for the length of my holiday.

This is a question I keep asking myself. Quite often we pay large amounts of money, to go somewhere other than here for a holiday. We pay mostly for transport, accommodation, and food.

Why do we need to go there, instead of here?

For me the biggest difference is the weather. I also like to be active, and good weather with skiing is bliss.

Consistent good weather, good snow, and good large and varied terrain of skiing.

For a summer/winter sunshine resort, I would also want lots of mountains, or places to go walking/cycling or swimming.

So pretty much where I am is good, if only the weather was good.

Of course, peace is important on holiday. There is spades and buckets of that here, but just weather which is often wet and rainy!!!!!

The travelling to and from not here, is always a painful experience at the best of times. The food can often be a dissapointment when you get there. The accomodation may not be what you ordered. It is full of ups and downs, which is contrary to the purpose of a holiday.

If only we could control the weather here, then it would be perfect!

I hear what you say. My perfect holiday is to chill on the beach, reading, doing the Telegraph crossword, dozing, making a cuppa in the beach hut,and sheltering there when it gets too hot or chilly.Or just watching the sea and the sky and just seeing the world go by. Bliss.

For me its an all inclusive brilliant hotel in a tropical paradise with a white sandy beach, turquoise blue ocean, wall to wall sunshine and sheer relaxation.
