Friend's daughter has problem with vomiting?

My friend's 6 year old daughter has been having problems with vomiting on and off for a while now. She starts in the evening while sleeping, and then it continues through the night and into the next morning. She usually has no fever and no other symptoms. She was taken to the hospital the last time and after several tests, could not find anything wrong with her. It is very stressful for the parents because this has been happening for several months now. What could be causing this?

    Here are some suggestions:

    Have they done testing to check for acid reflux disease?

    How about stomach or intestinal parasites?

    Has anything frightening ever happened to her during the night?(Ask the child) If it was bad enough it could set off vomiting/ptsd(post traumatic stress disorder)

    someone should sit by her bed in the dark while she sleeps and watch what happens when she starts doing this.what happens right before she starts?
