The three asterisks stand for what could be construed as a swear word.

It beings with an a, ends with an s and has an s in the middle. It's another word for your backside. Or a donkey. :)

The phrase itself means "he was put in his place" or "he was beaten down."

You must be too well sheltered if you don't know what that means.

It means he got his but whooped. Totally beaten.

Ex) Your playing a poker game. You have a full house and your opponet has a pair. He bluffs his way to a jackpot of 10k and you also pay it up. When you win the big jackpot in the middle. The phrase "he got his *** handed to him" comes in.
