Have you heard of Accredited Prior Experiential Learning (APEL)?

(as detailed at http://www.open.ac.uk/cpd/?q=APEL)

Have you heard of this system, and if you are an employer or education provider, would you value qualifications gained through this system equally with other educational or training qualifications? (or more/less than)

If you a private person and looking to increase your qualifications, would you consider this as a viable route to such - why/ why not

(thanks for answering, I am asking as part of some University coursework!)

    I've experienced this.

I transferred to a different uni for my final year so the uni gave me APEL for the study I had done at the first uni. If the employer only asks to see the final certificate they have no idea you have had APEL, only if they look at your transcript.

It's probably more common with 'new' universities who take older applicants and give credit for work in industry.

This is special education for those who have additional needs. Your question would be better posted in studying abroad or higher education.
