Is it possable to replace/upgrade the bult in speakers in my lap top?

I have a compaq armada m700. The speakers are very muffled so I`d like to replace them maybe even with better ones than the original ones if possable.

I am aware it is an old laptop but it works well for what I need it for.

Update:

If not why not? I would have thought they could be unplugged or re~soldered.

Update 2:

The problem with using external speakers is the headphone socket is at the front of the laptop and the cord gets in the way and will also put too much stress on the socket with prolonged use.

it is possible, but difficult. I would get a set of external speakers to improve the sound.

No. the speakers for a laptop is not an interchangeable hardware in a computer. You are most likely going to use speakers they could plug into to the line out or usb port.

Not a chance. You will have to make do with external ones, such as slim units designed for laptops.
