Crossword answer with explanation, please!?

Hi there.

Can somebody please tell me the answer to:-

"Bar festive offering", fits _A_E (four letters).

None of my own explanations convinces me - 10 points if yours can.

    I agree with Fenn R. I'm pretty sure it's cake - because you can get a bar/cake of soap and cake is a festive offering.
