Is it okay to have a dwarf hamster?

Okay im 14 my dad recently had both lungs transplanted i was wondering if it was still okay to have a hamster in the house i would have it in my room where my dad rarely goes in. he underwent surgery about 6 months ago is it okay?

    i would mention it to the doctor.. on a good note... dwarf hamsters carry a lot less disease than the long haired ones... the pet store by me stopped selling the long haired ones because they were having a problem with disease... it should be ok though... youre going to want to make sure to keep the cage clean though...

    yes, these are domestically bred and raised animals and carry no disease harmful to humans...bear in mind that they also only live about 2 to 3 years...but they are SO cute

    You would need to ask your father's doctor about this. He should be able to tell you your father's tolerance level for animal fur/dander.
