Hard Drive Question -?
I have a 40gb Maxtor hard drive. Can I replace it with an 80gb Maxtor ? Is the connwction the same? Thank you.

They are so small they must be quite old. So they will both have the old interface - IDE.
Make sure you set the links on the new one the same as the old one.
You will, of course, have to re-install your operating system (Windows XP, Vista?) and all your applications. I hope you have copied all important data to CD or somewhere.
Most PCs have space and all the cables to just add another IDE hard drive. Then you can just move your data around, rather than doing a whole re-install of everything. You will have to set the new hard drive as Slave, not Master. There should be a label for how to set the links.

You will need to find out the interface by opening the computer (remember to earth yourself). I would guess at IDE/ATA due to the low spec.
Then, simply switch them over and use a Windows/Linux CD to install your OS on the new disk. All of the old data will have to be backed up.
