My sister in law took her mother`s rings?

My mother has recovered from a stroke, and she spent some time in a coma, ( she was unconscious). Anyways, while she was in the ICU, her daughter took her wedding rings from the nurse, and she has never gave them back to my mother in law. My mother in law has asked for them, she`s recovered and wants them back. My sister in law refuses. My father in law is afraid to seek police help...I want to . Should I? AS far as I`m concerned it`s theft. She`ll get them when my mother in law passes. What should we do?

Update:

She`s always talked about them, about how she wants them when her mother passes. I`m already married, my rings are worth twice as much as her mother`s. I think she`s trying to secure them. But her mother wants them back, they have nothing, their poor, ( my in laws).

Update 2:

I`ve advise my husband to call the police...his mother is upset. SHE`S NOT DEAD YET!!

Update 3:

My sister in law is single...She knows the nurses at the hospital, her husband died in the ICU of cancer. Anyhow, everyone is upset with her. She`s greedy and she`s already recieved a settlement from her husband`s death. I don`t understand her??!!

Update 4:

She gets into family albums...and takes pictures. She feels she can just walk into their apartment and take things. I`ve had to confiscate many things from her. Just little things, shampoo, pictures, batteries, remotes for the TV...My poor mother in law is worried. My sister in law has struggled with money prior to her husband`s passing and she feels her parents are " entitled" to help her. So she steals what little they have.

Update 5:

It`s just sad...AND now she has a new house, and car. Her daughter plays hockey, she`s abusive and mean. No one will hang around her, she lies and she tries to free load off people. She gets men to fix her house for free..

Have you husband and his mom get together and try one more time to get them back from your sister-in-law before getting the police involved. If she won't listen to their please, call the police.

It is refreshing to know that there are people out there who respect and care for their in-laws...sometimes better than their own children care for them. Kudos to you for wanting to help out.

Your SIL is a b*tch. Either consult a lawyer, contact the police or try to steal the rings back. If I were you I would report this to the police, once they are involved you SIL will most likely give them back. I would also keep her away from the family, more things could go missing. Good Luck!!!

The mother is not dead! Don't let her live the rest of her life thinking everyone wants her dead so they can have her stuff. If no one does, step in and demand she does or you are calling the cops. Someone needs to stand up for this women if she can't do it herself.

It's theft. Phone the police. Your sister-in-law's partner should step in and make her give them back.
